Purchased with funds won in a National Cultural Foundation competition, 1998 Inv. No.: 98.127 Ring: "Renaissance" Mátyás Pataki, Budapest, 1997-98 Silver with polished chrysolite and so­called Hungarian jasper; cast, chased, rivetted Diameter: 4 x 4 cm The lower part of the ring is a spinnable, segmented chrysolite cylinder which nar­rows towards the middle which is fixed by spiral-headed rivets. Its top is a marble-like light grey jasper in a rectangular setting curved and stretched on top and recalls a Palladian motif. The stone covers and fits over the fingers to either side when the ring is worn. Purchased with funds won in a National Cultural Foundation competition, 1998 Inv. No.: 98.128 Ring: "Manly" Mátyás Pataki, Budapest, 1997-98 Silver with polished jade, with bone inlay and copper rivets cast Diameter: 3.5 x 4 cm On the bulky, cylindrical, circular band of the ring is a flat-ended, angular, curving head. On it is a spirmable cylinder of jade, divided into relief segments, which on the inside is fixed by small bone disks and on the outside by finely worked copper rivets.
