Dr. T. Tóth szerk.: Studia historico-anthropologica (Anthropologia Hungarica 10. Budapest, 1971)

750 (!) graves were annihilated during the operating of the quarry. Concerning the excavation of the cemetery, archeologist P. Tomka gave the following (oral) information: "The cemetery might have consisted of about 800 graves. It was a place of serial burials, wherein the graves were arranged in an east-west direction. The excavated graves originate from the borders of the cemetery. These were very poor in archeological finds, the characteristic griffin and tendril ornament occurred only sporadically in both excavation series, without a single studded male grave. The archeological material refers rather to the ninth century, hence the osteological material derives from a late Avar Period cemetery." + I express may thanks to P. Tomka, archeologist, in this place for his data and the cession of the osteological material for the present analysis. O.B. Material and Methods The excavated finds preserved in the Museum at Győr, are rather purrly conserved, so that only seven skulls can be evaluated typologically. However, attempts have been made for the detailed analysis of also the other fifteen skulls. Owing to the meagre and fragmentary material,my stetements refer only to the excavated material and not to the entire population of the cemetery.
