Topic for Sept. 24. HOW MAY WE KNOW WHEN WE REALLY ARE CHRISTIANS? Lesson: 1 John 2:2-6; 3:13-24. The primary requisite of a Christian, as our lesson tells us, is the keeping of Christ’s commandments. And these commandments are: believing in Jesus and loving one another. How simple! Before we go any further I wish to stress that a Christian is not a perfect person, or an individual who is more of a supernatural entity than a human being. He is not necessarily one who has already attained, reached the summit of the struggle. A Christian, as Dr. Charles Erdős in his booklet on Christian Ethics puts it, is a person in whose life the life and teachings of the Nazarene are visible. In other words, a follower of the Master is one who makes an honest attempt to follow Him and wholeheartedly espouses His cause. He has set his face towards the crown of life. In his course he may digress, often travel on detours, but he will never lose sight of his lofty goal. The best way to diagnose a disease is to watch for its symptoms. So it is with our Christianity. The safest way to find out whether we are Christians or not is to examine ourselves and see if we possess any symptomlike characteristics of that dominant force. This test can be applied anytime and anywhere. And, after a careful introspection we discover that we do possess these above mentioned qualities — wf can rest assured that Jesus numbers us among His flock. From our cathecism we learned that a good Christian is he who goes to church regularly and partakes of the Lord’s Supper whenever it is served. Frank Nagy. A C. E. Union levelező titkára, Komáromy Erzsiké a következő levélben közölte velünk a konferencia határozatát: Dear Rev. Melegh: Words very often cannot truly express appreciation, but even thru blunt expressions of words, I hope that you will feel the Union’s sincere gratitude for your wishes and greetings to our Conference. Much of our work could not have been carried on during the year if it hadn’t been for your kindness in allowing us to use a section of the REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA. We realize what a great sacrifice this was on your part as well as the paper’s part. Altho there is very little that we can do to aid the paper financially, we, Magyar Young People, look forward to the time when wre will take over from our parents the great responsibility of carrying on this work. Until that time we earnestly pray that the work of the REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA will not cease, but will be carried on into the ages. Allow me to again thank you for your kindness. Very sincerely yours, Elizabeth Komáromy Corresponding Secretary. HUNGARY IS ON THE MARCH. A review of the Buffalo State C. E. Convention. By Magdalene Takaró. Hundreds of white linen cloth fluttered and fell, as the last chords of the organ were hushed, and the large, white clad frame of Dan Poling pronounced the benediction. In that auditorium, where bowed heads tribute to the Almighty, we felt that truly, Ohistian youth is on the march — for peace! This was the first State Christian Endeavor Convention that I had attended in my life, thus, I looked forward to going very eagerly. The promising sight — seeing tour by auto caravan to Niagara Falls through Canada, and the trip itself through the Great Water Gap, were not the only things that held my attention at first, when I was informed that I was chosen to represent the Eastern Manhattan District or Christian Endeavor. Of course, the conference and services, under the leadership of nation-wide famous speakers, including bishops from England and international Christian Endeavor workers from all over the world, would he an attraction to any Endeave'rer; byt my aim and goal was, to learn the real, the sacrificing, the unselfish fellowship of the Christian youth of America, today. I find it a 'difficult task to tell briefly oi a four day convention, to select the most inspiring and uplifting speakers and services, and to try to relate these exactly, because, it seemed Nagy Ferenc
