to íme that every hour of those four days was as important and as necessary for the success of that convention, as every link in the chain is necessary to make it useful.

I believe it is opportune to say here that, even those who cannot understand the spiritual meaning of such a great convention are unconsciously drawn to the movement when they see a mass of one to two thousand young people attracted to the flag of real Christ-like service for their church and fellowman.

Because of lack of space, I cannot report all of the many themes and challenges put before us by the leaders, but I cannot close either, withuot touching on at least one. The last service of the conference was held in the Buffalo Music Hall, and Dan Poling was The speaker. When he arose, everyone waited expectantly, “What will his theme be ?” He answered with strong amphasi's on every word of his challenge:

“What does it mean to follow Jesus Christ?”

Jesus made following hard, because the way was hard. Young people are not deterred when given facts — they are eager to be marching with Him, 'to lay down their lives for Him; yes, fine — but remember, “no pillow for your head!” To follow Jesus means to face facts. He requires much; He claims all! In accepting the invitation, those who follow Him, take Him with 'the facts. Today, He says — “Come and see,” “Look me over,” “Sign on the dotted line,” “Take it or leave it,” — not arbitrarily! Young people must be unafraid fdr the truth! What does it mean to follow Christ and accept his attitude toward Christian Endeavor? Read the Bible, His Book, to understand the attitude of Christ with people. Look for pictures of Christ with the soldier, the lawyer, the taxer; His attitude toward individuals; then try to follow Him.

To my amazement, he included Hungary as an illustration of the Christian’s challenge, for Christ and the church. He said, “A little, far away, broken up country, working alone, is going to show the world in two years, when the International Christian Endeavor Convention is going to be held there, what it means, and has meant, to be on the march for Christ and the Church. This little country is called Hungary!” I felt very, very happy and thankful that the Lord does not judge and measure by the size, shape, and location of a country, but by the faith of its people.

This made my heart beat fast with joy, and my thoughts flew to those faithful and strong

young people in Hungary, who have set the ideal of Christian Endeavor work to the world, decades ago. When Dr. Clark, founddr of the Christian Endeavor «movement made his last world tour and visited the C. E. Union iin Hungary, he wrote a beautiful account of his experiences in the Church paper, the Christian Herald, about ten years ago. In this article, he pictured the C. E. movement carried on in Hungary as the most inspiring example set to the world.

There could not be a greater goal for the American-Hungarian young people to reach, than this. Nevertheless, to ever attain this glorious aim, every member has to enter with a personal experience of re-birth in Christ.

MILYEN LEGYEN A JÖVŐ ÉVI IFJÚSÁGI KONFERENCIA?

Véget ért a 7. ifjúsági konferencia és hazatért ifjaink bizonyosan lelkesen számolnak be tapasztalataikról az egyes ifjúsági körökben és már előre tervezgetik, hogy a jövő évi konferenciából is ki fogják venni részöket. És erről a jövő évi konferenciáról kívánok már most egyetmást a konferencia rendezőségének figyelmébe ajánlani.

Mikor Ligonierben megtartottuk az első ifjúsági konferenciát, egy nagy gondolat szülte volt azt, t. i. évenként legalább egyszer összehozni református egyházaink ifjúságát, hogy az összejövetelen táplálva egymást a református vallás kincseivel, erőt merítsenek ifjaink arra, hogy ref. egyházunk életéből kivegyék a részöket s abban aktiv vezető és irányitó szerepet vállaljanak. A főcél egyházi vezetők nevelése és képzése volt: az itt született nemzedéknek a ref. egyházban való megtartása.

Különösen szükséges itt Amerikában a vasárnapi iskola mellett a szombati iskola fenntartása. Vasárnapi iskoláink többnyire a nemzetközi vasárnapi iskolai tantervet használják és bizony annak általános jellege református szempontból sok kívánni valót hagy maga után; szombati iskoláink sem tudják teljesen pótolni a vasárnapi iskolai anyagból hányzó református részt, nagyrészt a tanulók mulasztása, vagy a tankönyvek hiányossága miatt, sőt nyári magyar iskoláink is csak keveset tudnak elérni e tekintetben, mert nyári magyar iskoláinkban nem rendelkezünk a magyar református egyház hitigazságait tárgyaló rövid tankönyvekkel és itt is inkább az általános keresztyén elveket tanítjuk a rendelkezésre álló rövid hetek alatt.
