E.-nek a mi ifjúsági körünk üdvözletét a magaméval együtt. A mielőbbi viszontlátásra! Boros Jenő, chicagói lelkész. OS1E10EIE1E1&Í' THE EYES OF THE MAGYAR C. E. OF HUNGARY! With the drawing power of a magnet, our attention is drawn across the many miles of land and sea, to a Christian Endeavor group watching us from that far horizon. We must gaze into the eves of the Magyar C. E. of Hungary, for their magnetic eyes allow no resistance! They are keenly watching the progress we make in our preparation for our C. E. Conference. Observing those eyes more closely, we can read criticism in their depths. A bit of Scripture comes to our minds — the same Scripture that was brought to us by those other eyes about us — this time more complete with emphasis on the last part, “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.” We wonder why the Magyar C. E. should put such emphasis on the last part of this Scripture. If we turn to the 1932 October issue of the “Mustármag”, we will find under the title “Az Ige Világosságában” an article in which we may read the answer to our wonder. From the article we learn that our brothers and sisters over the seas were glad to see that we have joined those who are under the banner of Christ, and that we are not among those whom they know as the flappers and gangsters of America. But the writer of the article goes on to say that sadness filled their hearts when they read about the Magyar C. E. Conference of America, and found, that the young lady who wrote the article, triumphantly proclaimed that during the discussion of the “Dance Question” the majority of the delegates gave their views in favor of dancing. He continues, “No matter how one tries he shall never succeed in melting together the love for worldly things with the love of God! As a C. E. member, I am a pilgrim of the narrow pathway. I know that this pathway does not lead thru a dancehall. God forbid that we with our near-sightedness shall make Christian laws, but I don’t believe its near-sightedness, or narrow-mindedness to say that dance-halls are not among the things that God placed for us in the narrow pathway.” In our own hearts we try to feel that it matters not what others say about us, as long as our own conscience tells us we are right in the things we do. Let us look into our conscience a little deeper and see whether we have not made it, work according to our own wishes. Even tho thfte criticism may not be just, still, we might consider its deep meaning, for after all it comes from a group that has traveled the pathway of C. E. many years before we started that way. May we thank God for faithfuleyes, doubting eyes, idealistic eyes, young people’s eyes, critical eyes, for all these taken together complete the incentive to “WAR A GOOD WARFARE!” Elisabeth Komáromy. C=33QQQQQ!3S=0 A KELETI IFJÚSÁGI KONFERENCIA. A keleten levő magyar református egyházak ifjúsága konferenciát tart Julius 4-én a passaici ref. egyház templomában, melyre a vendéglátó egyház szeretettel várja a környékbeli egyházak lelkészeit és ifjúságát. A konferencia d. e. 10 órakor kezdődik Isten- tisztelettel, amelyen Bacsó Béla theologus prédikál s a különböző egyházak ifjúságának delegátusai működnek közre. A szoros értelemben vett konferencia tárgysorozatát az egyes Ifjúsági Körök jelentésein s azok tárgyalásán kívül csupán két előadás alkotja. Dr. Takaró Géza tartja az egyiket: “Mi vár reád amerikai magyar ifjúság a világban?” cim alatt, mig Dr. Tóth Sándor “Mi vár reád amerikai magyar ifju- sjg az egyházban” cim alatt beszél. Mindkét előadást hozzászólások követik. Ebéd után a különböző Ifjúsági Körök által adandó 10—10 perces szórakoztató számok következnek. Az Ifjúsági Konferencia vándor-zászlaját, melyet a Keleti Magyar Református Egyházmegye díjul tűzött ki, az az Ifjúsági Kör fogja elnyerni, amelyik a legtöbb delegátust küldi a konferenciára. «=3B0BBB&4 VASÁRNAPI ISKOLÁK FIGYELMÉBE. Junius első napjaiban minden vasárnapi iskola megkapta a leckékről szóló számlát. Ezen kivül a R. L. 22. számában külön is kértem, hogy a számlákat haladéktalanul rendezzék, mert nincsen módomban az, hogy a leckéket a számlák kifizetése nélkül is megküldjem. A júliusi leckeképeket már kiküldtem. Akik nem kapták meg, gondoljanak a fentiekre s keressék abban a leckeképek elmaradásának okát. A nyomdai szedést ebben a hónapban még megtartjuk. Akik tartozásaikat beküldik ; azoknak a leckéket még mindig megküldhetem. Varga Lajos.
