Page 10 June 16, 1965. William Penn Motor City News By JOLÁN LUCAS Due to the shortness of time between the end of the XXII ANNUAL NATIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT AND FELLOWSHIP DAYS in Detroit on Memorial Day weekend, and the Deadline of the WILLIAM PENN official publication, it was utterly impossible to give a thorough report of this successful fraternal, social and sports weekend. Therefore, a full and complete report of this reporter’s version of the glowing event will be given in the July issue. (Usually the hot summer months are lacking in too much news, and the MOTOR CITY NEWS will help to fill the void.) .We are all looking forward to Editorial Assistant Jozik’s report, and also anxious about the scores of the winners, which should be in this issue. More comments next issue. * * * BRANCH 18 will hold its annual summer picnic on Sunday, August 1st at the Magyar Park near Estral Beach in Newport, all day! During her lifetime she participated in all patriotic, civic and religious activities of the Bridgeport community and was affectionately known by many as “MOM” Varga because through her acts of charity she befriended many who came to these shores, from her native Hungary. A multitude of friends, relatives and neighbors paid their last respects at her bier which was veritably surrounded by a forest of flowers. After the committal services at graveside, National Secretary Stelkcvics eulogized Mrs. Varga in the name of the William Penn. We extend our sincerest sympathies to the bereaved family, and with her passing another Hungarian pioneer has passed on to her Maker.
