Louis Horvath — PHILADELPHIA, PA. BRANCH 87 PLEASANT MEMORIES Branch 87 officers and guests had a wonderful time in Pittsburgh from May 27th to May 30th. President Julius Macker is indeed friendly and fraternal. It was ’’Laci Bácsi’s” good fortune to be elected “King” to reign over the 75th anniversary and he had a wonderful partner in Mrs. Helen Beres, "Queen,” from Monaville, West Virginia. Her neighbor, Audrey, was . an excellent dinner companion. We both were grateful for this honor. Branch 87 officers outdid themselves in their congratulations. László brought his Sbradivarius to the hotel, and on Sunday evening, following the banquet, a large group sang Hungarian songs in his suite for three hours without a stop until late Sunday morning amid revelry. I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Micsko, Miss Lorraine Douris and Joseph Stripo for helping to entertain my guests. The Home Office surprised the “King” and “Queen” with fine watches. This thoughtfulness and surprise will not be forgotten. We spoke to many officers, to Mrs. Coloman Revesz, and to Mrs. Fodor, publisher of William Penn. We missed the Ferret from Michigan, but understand Luke has been ailing. The food at the Springdale William Penn Home was delicious, and the hospitality the best. — 87 — 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Philadelphia, Trenton and Allentown had 75th anniversary celebrations, with Branch 87 officers attending the latter two events away from home. In Philadelphia, Director Frank Radvany presented 15-year officer citation to John Werner and William Lehuta. The dance was a memorable event in the life of Branch 87. In Trenton and Allentown we met Directors Radvany, Ibos, Lang, and Kormondy; Vice-President Louis Varga; Bishop Zoltán Beky, who used to visit Phiadelphia many times, and Frank Danes, genial host of Branch 90. We were also at the Branch 76 dinner. All of these people outdid themselves in making our visit pleasant. Branch 87 will have a new meeting place starting in September, so please watch these columns for the time and place. LACI BÁCSI “King for a Day” P. 0. Box 1374 Philadelphia 5, Pa.
