Wouldn’t You Like to Bowl as Well? Branch 27-V, Toledo, Ohio, has a splendid reputation in the William Penn family for its many expert bowlers, male and female. Here is member John Powell, Jr., a real champion who deserves the twocolumn width picture we have published of him, because his good bowling is excellent advertisement for our society and our bowling tournaments. John is the second highest bowler in average in the country. His average is 236 at this writing, which makes him the No. 1 bowler in the William Penn Fraternal Association. He is also doubles champion in Dayton with fellow member Bob Nickel as his partner. Congratulations, champ! REFUGEES MEET AND WED Out of every evil comes some good. The terrible tragedy of the October 1956 anti-Communist uprising in Hungary and subsequent events brought together the young lives of Joseph Bognár and Elizabeth Spak. They were married October 4, 1958 at St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Prominent William P'enners who attended the nuptials with their wives were Director Joseph Kormondy, Field Supervisor Joseph Toma, and District Manager Adam Simon. Elizabeth came to this country under the sponsorship of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Vertes and made her home with them; Joseph was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lorincz. Both became members of Branch 185-R, Nixon, New Jersey, which is managed by Mr. Vertes.
