William Penn NEWS Minutes of Newly-Merged Bi\ 108-V, Youngstown, Ohio Held January 13,1957 RUBBER CITY NEWS by Steve Yuhasz AKRON, OHIO BRANCH 44-R This 'column is new to the “William Penn” but this writer hopes to make it a fixture for many many issues to come. It will be up to. you as members of our newly formed branch (formerly 355-V, 91-V and 44-R) on how much filled our column will be. So, if you have something that you think you would like published in the “William Penn,” telephone or mail your information to Steve Yuhasz, 306 Stratford Rd., Akron 13, Ohio — TE. 6-2702, and he will see that it is inserted in this column. The officers of Branch 44-R would also like to hear from the members ,in the way of suggestions concerning activities that they would have the branch members participate in. This includes all ages. We have our own ideas, but we know that with your help we will make Akron one of the “active” branches in our fraternal association. These also may be forwarded to the above address or telephone. The first social of our merged group of the Akron area (now known as Branch 44-R) will be a banquet to be held Sunday, April 14, 1957, 1 p. m., at the Magyar Home, 112 E. Thornton St. We have invited one of the National Officers to be our guest speaker. You, no doubt, received a card recently through the mail about this, so you had better reserve or get your tickets early, as we expect to have “a sellout.” Charles Varga, who is in charge of tickets, will accommodate you. We are proud to inform the membership that Branch 44-R will send IT’S ALMOST SPRING AND IT’S NEAR TOURNAMENT TIME (Continued from page 1) The National Tournament Executive Committee has been working quietly but enthusiastically to assure the success of our big, big event. The Committee is numbered from the following Directors: Albert B. Ibos, chairman, John P. Balia, Gabriel Czernai, Michael J. Faczan and Michael Korosy. Eack to the hotel. Its Main Ball Room will be the scene of the climax of the two-day spectacle. The Victory Dinner and Dance will take place in that gorgeous and spacious room. Oh yes, Louis Sikora and his popular orchestra, who play Hungarian music, American music, all .kinds of music, will enhance with their melodies this not-to-be-forgotten social event. The Sikora musical aggregation has played in such noteworthy places — and NOTE these — the Hotel Cleveland and the Country Club. Nothing but the best for our celebrating members! Toth, local District Manager, is nominated as Temporary Chairman by Mrs. Margaret Ashley; motion seconded by Philip Houser; nomination carried unanimously. A motion is made by Steve Houser that the officers of the branch consist of five: President, Secretary-Treasurer, 3 Auditing Committeemen. It is discussed and agreed upon that the Chairman of the Auditing Committee automatically become branch Vice President. This is seconded by Mrs. Joseph Turner and unanimously carried. A motion is made by Gabriel Nameth to continue the present meeting date and location, as follows: regular collections the second Sunday of every month at Our Lady of Hungary Church ,North Bella Vista Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, from 11 A. M. to 12 Noon; regular monthly meeting at Calvin Center, Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, second Sunday of every month, at 2 P. M. The motion is seconded by Mrs. Joseph Batta and unanimously carried. A number designation for the newly-merged branch is discussed. Gabriel Nameth, Field Supervisor, suggests that we retain 108-V until Borne future date. This suggestion is put into a motion by Steve Houser, seconded by- John Kostyo and carried unanimously. Nomination and Election of Officers Following is to be a closed ballot. John Kostyo is nominated for President by Philip Houser; Joseph Turner is nominated by Steve Houser. Philip Houser moves that nominations be dosed and is seconded by Mrs. Margaret Ashley. Results: John Kostyo - 6; Joseph Turner - 8. Joseph Turner is elected President. Motion is made by Philip Houser that Joseph Yuhasz be unanimously drafted for the position of Secretary-Treasurer. This motion is seconded by John Kostyo and unanimously carried .Joseph Yuhasz is elected Secretary- Treasurer. Nominations for the Auditing Committee are as follows: John Kostyo nominated by Mrs. Joseph Batta; George Skebo nominated by Mrs. Margaret Ashley (Mr. Skebo declines); Philip Houser nominated by Steve Houser; Frank Molnár, Sr. nominated by Gabriel Nameth. It is suggested by Gabriel Nameth that the two past presidents from the former Branches 364-V and 514-V hold some office. Steve Houser makes the motion that nominations for the Auditing Committee be closed and is seconded by Mrs. Joseph Batta. The Auditing Committee consists of John Kostyo, Chairman; Philip Hauser and Frank Molnár, Sr. Merging of assets of the former branches into the newly-merged branch as discussed. Philip Houser suggests that the former officers get together with the newly-elected officers of the new branch in approximately one week or ten days to merge all assets under Branch 108-V. It is suggested by John Kostyo that the newly-merged branch have a party or banquet to celebrate the merger and honor the past officers of the former branches.
