Branch News Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Richard E. Sarosi We send you warm greetings and a blessing for St. Patrick's Day. May the Leprechauns be near you to spread luck along your way. And, may all the Irish angels smile upon you on St. Patrick's Day. It was a pleasure to attend the 59th Fehér Rózsa Bál (White Rose Ball) sponsored by the Hungarian Arts Club Feb. 4 in Dearborn, Mich. Our thanks to all involved in organizing the weekend's activities. You can read a bit more about this event in the "Magyar Matters" section on page 9. Thank you to Branch 249 Dayton, Ohio, for the nice surprise I received. I won a basket of cheer in their Christmas raffle. Thank you, Anne Marie and Mark Schmidt, for delivering it to me in Dearborn. I hope the raffle was a success. I was pleased to receive an email from Rev. Lisa Kerestesi containing an article written by Marsha Keefer of The Times newspaper in Beaver Falls, Pa., featuring the Beaver Falls Third Avenue Calvin Reformed Church. Congratulations to church officials, the Csornán family and the congregation for all of their hard work to keep the congregation going and the church active. May God continue to provide his rich blessings upon those who have done so much to keep the Holy Spirit alive and who serve the Hungarians and the community of Beaver Falls. Your donations help provide monetary assisstance to our eligible student scholar WPA members. If you or your child received a WPA scholarship, please pay it forward so that other WPA students might enjoy the benefits of the WPFA Scholarship Foundation. Also, as your children grow into young adults, please convert their juvenile insurance certificate into an adult life certificates when your student reaches the age of 25. This will ensure that they continue to receive valuable WPA insurance coverage into their adult years and continue to enjoy the fraternal benefits of membership in WPA. We want to see moms, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents as members of the WPA family. The officers of Branch 14 extend our sympathy to those Branch 14 and WPA members who have recently lost a loved one. We extend our condolences to the family of Antoinette "Toni" Gras who lost her battle with cancer. Toni was active with Cleveland's Csárdás Dance Company where she served as board president and general manager. Toni was an inspiration and a visionary. May God bless her family at this difficult time, and may Toni rest in peace. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Spring 2017. We made it through another winter. I really must admit that we really haven't had much winter thus far. I am writing this on Feb. 1 in order to make the 10th of the month deadline, so we have a bit of winter ahead of us. But even if it comes, I think we can handle it. I am eagerly anticipating all our guests arriving for our annual White Rose Ball on Feb. 4. This event introduces young ladies of Hungarian descent to today's society. WPA has supported this event for over 50 years. My brother Joe and his wife Wanda are to arrive today from Mississippi. This is her first time at the ball. I can't wait to see her reaction. Members of the WPA Board of Directors also are attending. If you are not attending this year, I truly hope you will next year. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to Linda Enyedy for all her hard work in making the debutantes and their escorts look so magnificent. Thank 18 ° March 2017 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE
