Branch News Members of Branch 18 attended the annual White Rose Ball Feb. 4 in Dearborn, Mich. you also to Ursula and Tamas Markovits. Yes, that also takes a village. Speaking of Linda, I mistakenly omitted her from the February birthday greetings. I am so sorry. Linda is also Branch 18's vice president. Our branch is very alive, and she is still learning, but she is getting there. Happy birthday my friend, Hungarian Heritage Experience participant and European travel partner. We wish you many more. Happy birthday also to our March members, especially National Directors Joyce Nicholson and David Kozak, Jennifer Sullivan, Joan Rectenwald, Cassie Holmes, Laurin Wolf, Board Chair Andy McNelis and Branch 18 Auditor and Hungarian Heritage Experience chef Ursula Markovits. Last, but not least, happy birthday to my husband and Abigail's dad, Tom House. We love you and wish everyone many more. Sure hope I didn't miss anyone this month. The January issue of William Penn Life was spectacular. I thank you all for your submissions. I know how time consuming they can be. If we want to continue another 131 years, we need you to tell everyone about all the wonderful things your branch is involved in. We don't hear from some of you every month, but every little bit helps. Your Christmas party pictures were wonderful to see. I sure wish I lived closer to Branch 89. That gulyás sounds marvelous. Congrats to all the newly-elected branch officers. We thank you for your hard work and dedication. We resume our monthly branch meetings on March 29 at 6:00 p.m. We continue to meet at the Hungarian Cultural Center on Goddard in Taylor. Hope to see you there. Get well wishes to my mom Irene, Doug Truesdell, George Schvarckopf, Joe Csereklye, Eleanor Kender, Albert Frate, Arlene Csornán and Ursula Markovits. I recently heard from Elsie Kantor; she had a freak accident. Sure hope you are all better soon. Thank you to all who sent condolences to us on the death of Tom's brother Charles. We received many cards, flowers and donations to the scholarship foundation. You just don't know what it meant to us. Thank you. Remember our deceased members and their families in your prayers, especially Julius Robert Macker, Elizabeth Varga and Walter L. Goldsmith. May they rest in peace. Special hello to Barbara and Alfred Yates. What a nice thing to do. Thank you. Think spring! It will be here soon. My thought for the month: "Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you find you are doing the impossible." I can always be reached at 313- 418-5572, or 734-782-4667, or 1-800- 848-7366, ext. 107. Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn B. Bodnar We held our annual Christmas party at Confectionately Yours on Dec. 17, 2016. Everyone had a great time. The children enjoyed their gifts and each other. At our branch meeting the next day, we elected our officers: Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Bodnar, president; Joseph A. Bodnar, vice president; Evelyn B. Bodnar, secretary-treasurer; and Jennifer Lyn Bodnar and Kathy Shimmel, auditors. The last Saturday in December, we donated food to those in need and gifts to children in need. We have been giving coats to local residents for six weeks, a total of 500 coats in all. Our thanks to Burlington Coat Factory for supplying the coats. The Bayard Street Presbyterian Church serves food to those in need on the last Saturday of each month at noon. The church has been providing this service for the past five years. About 175 people are served each month. Rev. Bodnar picks up the food every Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. at the county warehouse. We also receive food donations from local residents. Happy New Year! Branch 27 Toledo, OH_______ by Paula Bodnar What is with this weather? I wish it would decide what it wants to do. Well, at least we can look forward to the spring flowers popping their heads out of the ground. Hope this finds everybody doing well. Starting this month, we are going to put the names of all those attending our meetings into a drawing. Each month you attend, your name gets put in. The first drawing will be at the June meeting. Come and get active with our branch. The more active members we have, the stronger our branch will be. We are participating in WPA's Join Hands Against Hunger campaign. I know that this is short notice, but anybody who would like to donate any canned goods can drop them off at our meeting on March 11 at 1:00 p.m. at American Table. Another month has gone by and it is again time to send out birthday wishes. We wish the following members and friends of our branch happy birthday: Rex Aranyosi, Nicole Atchison, Patricia Belegrin, Andrew Benko, Joseph Berta Jr., Joseph Butler, Thomas Clark, Isaac WILLIAM PENN LIFE 0 March 2017 0 19
