Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA by Dora S. McKinsey Happy Valentine's Day to all. May you spend the day and every day with the ones you love. February is an important month for William Penn Association. On Feb. 21, WPA will celebrate its 131st anniversary. Congratulations to the Association and to all the past and present members who have made it possible for WPA to provide its members with the best insurance plans and annuity rates while offering many different fraternal activities. Our Board of Directors and National Officers do their best managing the Association, keeping our members in mind when making any decision, whether it be financial or fraternal. William Penn Life provides information about WPA events. Please try to attend as many of them as you can. Only with your support can WPA continue to offer the best possible fraternal service. Our next scheduled event is our bowling tournament on April 28 and 29 at the Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington, Pa. Everyone had a great time at past tournaments, and this year should be no exception. Check out all the information about the tournament on pages 14 and 15 of this issue. Also, keep in mind that our annual golf tournament is being held earlier this year, July 7 and 8, at Chestnut Ridge in Blairsville, Pa., site of the 2010 and 2012 golf tournaments. The hotel is right next to the golf course, so you won't have to drive from one to the other. We hope to see more of our members at these events. If you, your son or daughter will be attending an institution of higher learning this fall, then check the eligibility rules to obtain a WPA scholarship. Every bit of money available to help with your education is well worth the effort to apply for. See page 10 of this issue for eligibility rules and an application. Get well wishes go out to all those who are feeling under the weather. Our condolences to all those who have recently lost a loved one. May your memories sustain you through this very difficult time. Happy birthday to all of our branch members who are celebrating a birthday this month. May you have many more and may all of them be healthy. If you have any news you would like to share, or if you have any insurance questions, please contact me at 412-932-3170 or by email at dmckinsey@hotmail.com. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Joan B. Ballash Branch 800 members are enjoying the WPA 2017 calendar. The photo of Buda Castle pictured for January makes me wish I was among those who have visited this beautiful structure. For February, we are treated to pictures of new members. Are all WPA youngsters this adorable? The calendar was provided by the Home Office and given to guests at our branch Christmas party. If any members are in the south or heading elsewhere to escape winter, check to see if a branch of the WPA is near your destination. It would be interesting to attend meetings and make new friends. My husband Victor and I were welcomed and participated in numerous events held by Branch 590 Cape Coral, Fla. when we were in Fort Myers. On Dec. 9, the Altoona Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders won their third consecutive state football championship by defeating Clairton at Hershey Park Stadium. We are very proud of these PI A A Class 1A champions. Congratulations! Branch 800 elected the following officers in December: Dan Greiner, president; Dennis Greiner, vice president; Joan Ballash, secretary; Bob Jones, treasurer; and Victor Ballash, John Conti and Rob Gohn Jr., auditors. John Conti serves as our marshall. All are from Altoona. We want all our members to be well and live life to the fullest. Talk to your health care professional about taking preventative measures to avoid contracting influenza, pneumonia or other illnesses. Stay rested and be good to yourself. We wish everyone celebrating a birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion in February a very wonderful time with family and friends. Commemorate Presidents Day by counting the number of presidents who have been in the White House since you were born. For Valentine's Day, surprise a loved one with an enduring gift: a donation in their honor to the WPFA Scholarship Foundation. This gift that will outlast a box of chocolates. Branch Coordinator Bob Jones has answers to all of your questions concerning WPA life insurance and annuity products. He is just a phone call away at 814-942-2661. 26 0 February 2017 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE
