For Starters Continue the fight against hunger in your community Branches spread fraternal spirit through Holiday Baskets program PITTSBURGH - The spirit offraternalism never shines more brightly than it does every year during the holiday season. This past year was no exception as WPA branches once again responded with overwhelming generosity to the Association’s Holiday Baskets program. Between Thanksgiving and the end of the year, WPA branches donated 93 baskets of non-perishable food and other items worth a total of nearly $4,000 to those in need in their local communities. While we are happy to report that about two-thirds of our active branches participated, our goal remains to achieve 100 percent participation. Our thanks to the following branches and their members for sharing the fraternal spirit this past holiday season: • Branch I Bridgeport, CT • Branch 8 Johnstown, PA • Branch 13 Trenton, NJ • Branch 16 Perth Amboy, NJ • Branch 18 Lincoln Park, Ml • Branch 26 Sharon, PA • Branch 27 Toledo, OH • Branch 28 Youngstown, OH • Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA • Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH • Branch 48 New York, NY • Branch 51 Passaic, NJ • Branch 88 Rural Valley, PA • Branch 132 South Bend, IN • Branch 159 Phoenixville, PA • Branch 189 Alliance, OH • Branch 216 Northampton, PA • Branch 226 McKeesport, PA • Branch 249 Dayton, OH • Branch 296 Springdale, PA • Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA • Branch 349 Weirton, WV • Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA • Branch 705 Mayville, Wl • Branch 800 Altoona, PA • Branch 8036 Scottdale, PA • Branch 8114 Clarion, PA PITTSBURGH — Your generosity during our recent Holiday Baskets program truly warmed our hearts. But, the reality is that hunger knows no season. The need in our communities doesn't begin in November and end with the start of the new year; it exists every day. That's why WPA is once again asking our members, branches and friends to join us as we Join Hands Against Hunger. From now until April 1, we encourage our branches nationwide to collect canned goods and other non-perishable items and donate them to a food bank in their local community. All branches will be receiving more information about this program, including details on how your branch can receive up to $50 in matching funds. We also ask you to send a photo of your branch's volunteers and/or donations which will be published in William Penn Life. The deadline for submitting matching funds reimbursement forms, receipts and photographs is April 1. If you have any questions, please contact Fraternal Director Barbara A. House at 1-800-848- 7366, ext. 107, or Judit Ganchuk toll-free at 1-800-848-7366, ext. 149.
