Branch News Young members of branch 296 spend some quality time with Santa and Mrs. Claus during the branch's annual Christmas party. Children and adults eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus at a family Christmas party hosted jointly by Branches 34, 7 / and 352. painful. Please call them or send them a note. That's all for now. Until next month, stay warm. Branch 296 Springdale, PA by Mary Ann Kelly-Lovasz My goodness, here we are in 2017! Each new year can be viewed as a chapter in our lives, open to possibilities and adventures. The older we become, the more we realize that not everything has promise, and we can experience a multitude of troubles along the way. And, adventures can have challenges, but can bring fulfilling outcomes, too. No matter your age we all anticipate possibilities and adventures. Throughout 2017, may we aspire to be generous, patient and optimistic and appreciate the talents and gifts in everyone. Our world needs all of these attributes for they open our world to possibilities and adventures. Our Branch 296 family Christmas party had a smaller turnout than in past years, but it was time wellspent. We not only saw familiar faces but also welcomed a number of newer members, which was terrific. After a year of hibernation in my desk drawer, the magic snowball was finally returned to its rightful owner, Mrs. Claus. That snowball truly was magical as it never melted. I returned it to a delighted Mrs. Claus, extra fluffy, and with it smelling "mountain fresh." She joyfully used it in her snowball toss at the end of her magic show. That perky Mrs. Claus certainly knows how to bring out the best in everyone. The children were taken with her wacky personality and eagerly wanted to participate in her act. Her tree decorating contest, during which several children and a mom decorated one another with garland and ornaments, was hilarious. Thank you, Mrs. Claus, you really know how to tickle our funny bones! Your husband was really well-received, too. He thoughtfully listened to every child's wishes and was even able to read "The Night Before Christmas" to the group, (what good listeners they were!) as we awaited our delicious meal. This very enjoyable afternoon was a perfect way to kick-start the holiday season. Happy children, smiling faces, great food, treats and fellowship—that's what it's all about, isn't it? This party was made possible due to lots of help from Diane and John Torma, Marge and Toni Kosheba, Noreen Fritz, and John and Leanne Lovász. We also appreciate our branch members who generously donated non-perishable items for New Kensington's Mount Saint Peter and Lower Valley Community Food Bank ministries. They feel blessed because you remembered them. Prior to the party, we re-elected our branch officers for the next two years: Diane Torma, president; Marge Kosheba, vice president, Toni Kosheba, treasurer, Mary Ann Kelly- Lovasz, secretary; and John Lovász and John Torma, auditors. Thank you, officers, for your willingness to fulfill these duties for another term. Happy birthday wishes to all 296- ers who were January babies. Have a wonderful year! Good thoughts and get well wishes go out to each of our members and loved ones who are recovering, including: my father-in-law John Lovász, Irene Charles, John Torma Sr., Kim Bonifield and Tracy Fritz. As you recover, we wish for you healthy minds, bodies and spirits. Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. May God grant them eternal rest and bless you with cherished memories. As Branch 296 welcomes our newest members, we remind everyone that WPA, as a fraternal benefit society, cares about each member. Fraternalism is a spirit of mutual support. With that in mind, why not start the new year by becoming an active participant? We're always looking for fresh ideas and welcome members to attend our meetings and join us for events. Our meetings are laid back, and we'll be happy to see you. After our winter break, meetings will resume on Thursday, March 9, at 22 ° January 2017 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE
