Kelly-Lovasz Happy 241st birthday to our United States of America! Our nation's first vice president, John Adams, wrote to his wife Abigail on July 3,1776 that our Independence Day "ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. " And so, it continues to be observed in similar fashion, so many, many years later. God bless our nation. Go out and observe this wonderful day! Happy birthday wishes to all of our July 296-ers, including my lovely, hard-working daughter, Leanne. Belated first birthday wishes to Garrett Keller. His mom, Megan works in our WPA New Business Department and she has chronicled his first year for all of us in photos. He's a sweet boy! First birthday wishes also to László Ganchuk, whose mom, Judit, works in WPA's Fraternal Department. We've enjoyed seeing photos of her dear little guy throughout the year, too. Congratulations to Jeffrey Holmes who recently received his associates of applied science degree in petroleum technology, as well as three applied science certificates in petroleum and industrial process operation technology, natural gas and oil technology and pipeline mechanics. That sounds like a mouthful, but it involves cutting-edge technology for using our earth's natural resources for fuel. Jeffrey was a grant recipient Congratulations to Branch 296 member Jeffrey Holmes as he recently earned his associates of applied science degree in petroleum technology. of our WPFA Scholarship Foundation. He is the son of proud parents Cassie (our WPA life underwriter) and Jeff Holmes and brother to Megan Keller. He's also a good son, wonderful brother and an awesome uncle to Garrett. Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention that besides being an all-around talented athlete, he's also a pretty good bowler, as he demonstrated at our WPA tournament in April. Much success to you, Jeffrey. May the job force be with you. (I have no doubt that it will be.) Congratulations to all of our recent college graduates from Branch 296. "Wow!" That is the only way for me to describe our latest branch Join Hands Day project. Branch members really got into the spirit of the occasion by decorating and filling snack bags for the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh. Helen and Mary Ann Slaninka got a head start, preparing ahead of time beautifully colored pictures that were cut and pasted onto the bags. Their pictures were amazing, and we were delighted to see them, one after the other. Thank you, Helen and Mary Ann, for your creativity! Thank you also to the creativity of Diana Borland, Toni Kosheba and Diane Torma. The bags were really little works of art. Accolades to all our helping hands Joshua Borland (I want to borrow some of your energy), his dad Tim, Noreen Fritz, John Lovász and John Torma. And all this would not have been possible without the snack shopping savvy and expertise of Toni and Marge Kosheba. Diane and John Torma delivered the products of our labor to the Ronald McDonald House, and the bags were greatly appreciated. We're already looking forward to next year's project. We invite all of our youth and adult branch members to join us. It's really time well spent. Remember our upcoming szalonna sütés (bacon roast) on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Riverside Park in Oakmont. Start spreading the news! The same pavilion we used last year, the one closest to the Hulton Bridge, has been reserved. More details will be provided as the date draws nearer. Branch 296 is on summer vacation, so no meetings until Sept. 14. If you would like to purchase WPA life insurance or annuities, we encourage you to contact our agent, Noreen Fritz, at 412-821-1837 or at noreenbunny.fritz@verizon.net. Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA by Dora S. McKinsey Happy 4th of July! Hope you all witness amazing fireworks this year and enjoy delicious food at a cookout with family and friends. Seriously, though, we need to reflect on the real reason for our celebrations. Too often, we take our independence for granted not even thinking about the rights and privileges we enjoy here in America. Let us not forget the sacrifices made in the past and those still being made today to keep this great country the "Land of the Free." On June 3, members of Branch 352 participated in a Join Hands Day project at the Western PA Humane Society on Western Avenue in Pittsburgh's North Side. We picked up debris, pulled weeds and planted flats of flowers. We had a lot of fun and got to interact with some of the 22 ° July 2017 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE
