Branch News animals there at the Humane Society. Of course, some of us just had to go in and see the animals, especially the dogs. I saw a beautiful golden retriever puppy with big, brown puppy dog eyes. Believe me when I say that I was tempted to adopt her; but, she was already spoken for and was only waiting to be picked up by her new family. Maybe next year.... Remember our fraternal events that are fast approaching: golf is July 7 and 8, and the annual picnic is Aug. 26. The Home Office is looking for volunteers for the picnic. Happy birthday to all those celebrating a birthday this month. May God bless you with many more, and may all of them be healthy. Happy birthday to my granddaughter, Julia, who turns 5 this month. Get well wishes to anyone who's feeling under the weather. May you soon be up and about. Hope all of you enjoy your summer, and don't forget to wear sunscreen if you are going to be outside for any length of time. If you have any news to share or need any help with your insurance certificates, please contact me at 412- 932-3170 or by e-mail at dmckinsey@ hotmail.com. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Joan Bal lash We wish all Branch 800 members a very enjoyable Independence Day shared with family and friends, eating tasty food on a sunny day. Please remember, however, that the 4th of July isn't just a day for picnics; it is also a time to proudly fly our nation's flag and celebrate the birth of our nation, patriotism and our brave forefathers. Although millions will have the day off from work, let's remember and thank those who must go to work this day to keep our country going, keep its citizens safe and care for people who are ill. When planning your outdoor activities this summer, it is important to keep in mind sun protection via proper clothing and sunscreen for all adults and children who will be outdoors. In May, my husband Victor and I had an unexpected treat while attending an event at DuBois Central Catholic High School. We met Craig Ochs, a member of WPA Branch 8114 Clarion, Pa. Our common membership in WPA made for great dinner conversation. Craig is looking forward to his daughter applying for WPA scholarship grants when she becomes eligible. Happy birthday to Branch Auditor Rob Gohn Jr. and best wishes to everyone celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding or other special occasion this month. We extend our sincere condolences to members mourning the loss of a loved one. We pray for you and for those experiencing pain and sickness. May the Lord bless all families. Did everyone see the photo of our new branch member, Alice P. Gearhart, in the June William Penn Life? What a blessing! The deadline for reservations for the Branch 800 picnic is July 26. Call Dan Greiner at 814-943-7471. The picnic will be held Aug. 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Highland Park in Altoona. Cost is $5 per person. Is it time to review your policies? Know of someone who would benefit from membership in WPA? Then call Bob Jones at 814-942-2661. He can answer all your questions about WPA and its life insurance and annuity plans.
