Magyar Matters Scouts prepare for 50th summer school NORTH NEWFOUNDLAND, NJ — The Hungarian Scouts in Exteris, or Külföldi Magyar Cserkészszövetség (KMCSSZ), will again host their annual summer Hungarian Summer School for Hungarian scouts from July 8 to 22. This marks the 50th year the school has been offered at the Sík Sándor Scouts Park in Fillmore, NY, just over an hour east from Buffalo. Each year, the Hungarian Summer School has been a fun place where up to 50 scouts ages 8 through 14 "rough it" in the great outdoors. There's no media or flush toilets, but there is running water and electricity. Scouts from all over North America are expected to attend. The cost for this two-week summer school is $700 after June 1. This includes room and board, field trips, swimming and other activities. Special discounts are available for families sending more than one child. Sík Sándor Scouts Park has 158 acres for afternoon activities, field trips and swimming as well as facilities for learning and lessons. Admission is on a first-come/first-served basis, and all children must speak Hungarian to apply.
