Branch News The young and young-at-heart gather around the Clauses at the Branch 28 Christmas party. Thanks to Judit Ganchuk, the National Officers and our Board for all their support. We had a marvelous time. Now, onward and upward to another spectacular year. Special hello to Rev. Jack McK- insey. You always know what to say and when to say it. Thank you so much; your words are always special. Another special hello to Kathy and Les Megyeri. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful support. Your articles are always the best, Kathy. Thank you. A huge thank you to Judy Mosteller. Your gift was wonderful and made me feel very special. I will wear it often. Our Branch 18 Christmas party was the best ever. We had 92 children and countless adults. Thank you to all who showed up at 10:00 a.m. to decorate and make things run so smoothly. I will not name names, but you know who you are. I don't know what we would do without all you wonderful members. As always, it takes a village. We had magic and balloon man Jeff, Santa with Christmas Carol, and even Olaf. We also had a space set aside where we turned the kids loose. "Loose" was the word, but, you have to remember, it is the kids' party. I only hope next year's will be even better. Thank you, everyone. Many WPA members attended the Szüreti Bál at the Hungarian American Reformed Church in Allen Park. We had a marvelous time. There was a three piece band called "Hungalat," and they were wonderful. We danced our feet off! Dinner was catered by the Hungarian Rhapsody restaurant. The menu offered something for everyone and was delicious, as always. A great harvest dance that made everyone smile. Reverend Varga and his wife Kati and their many members made everyone feel very welcome. Looking forward to next year. Welcome to new member Denise Funti. She has jumped in with both feet. A great member, Denise is also a super recommender. We have three new family members pending. Again, thank you and welcome. Happy January birthdays to National Director Jim Robertson, Megan Keller, Ronda Grotefend, John Toth and Ralph Manning. Very special people. Have a wonderful birthday, each of you. Get well wishes to George Schvarckopf, Joe Csereklye, Doug Truesdell, Julia and Julius Bubenko, Albert Frate, Arlene Csornán and Beata Császár. Hope you all are better soon. Remember our deceased members and their families in your prayers. May they all rest in peace. Branch 18 is on winter break. We don't want to have members drive in bad weather and early darkness. We will resume branch meetings on March 29 at 6:00 p.m. We continue to meet at the Hungarian American Cultural Center (HACC) on Goddard in Taylor. I am going to miss seeing you. Our wonderful communications officer, Helen Sryniawski, will be calling to remind you. The HACC serves wonderful Hungarian food every Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. We are very lucky here in Michigan because the Hungarian Rhapsody in Southgate also serves authentic Hungarian food. They are open every day but Monday. We can always have our Hungarian food craving satisfied. I can say they both serve the best. Come and join us. The Hungarian Arts Club's White Rose Ball is right around the corner. This is always such a special and wonderful night. What makes you feel more special than getting all dressed up formally? Yes, men must wear tuxedos and ladies floor-length gowns. That is all part of making us all feel so wonderful. I hope you are planning to join the festivities. Again, congrats to Olivia Soter. We are proud of you. My thought for the month: Opportunity is circling you like luggage at the baggage claim carousel. Let go of the moment that's already passed so your hands are free to grab the new opportunity as it goes by. Remember to offer your help to your branch. We need your ideas to keep every member interested. We had only a few branches support Join Hands Day. I know that there are many opportunities out there for you to volunteer. Please feel free to call me anytime and I will be happy to help. I can always be reached at: 734-782-4667 or 313- 418-5572 or at 800-848-7366, ext 107. Happy winter. Stay warm. I can't wait to see you all again. Think bowling. Branch 27 Toledo, OH by Paula Bodnar I hope this finds everyone rested up from your holiday celebrations and that 2017 will be just as enjoyable and good to you as the past year. We thank Brenda at Rossford Lanes for all her help with our Christmas party. We had a very good turn out and hope everyone had a good time. The next branch meeting is Jan. 14 at 1:00 p.m. at The American Table Restaurant in Oregon across from St. 16 0 January 2017 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE Photo by Prank Schau«
