Hauser On Dec. 5, Branch 8036 held its annual Christmas dinner at the Darlington Inn in Ligonier, Pa. Once again, members and guests enjoyed a delicious Hungarian buffet prepared by Elizabeth and László Kastal. Both are branch officers and always do a wonderful job in hosting our activities. Elizabeth went above and beyond the call of duty as the chicken paprikás and pigs in a blanket were most flavorsome. Prior to dinner, a brief meeting was held, recapping branch activities during the year. The branch provided financial support to the WPFA Scholarship Foundation with sponsorships in WPA's bowling and golfing events, along with a congratulatory message in the General Convention ad book. Speaking of the scholarship foundation, it was announced that four branch members received WPA scholarships to help further their education. In addition, the branch participated in the Holiday Basket program with a donation to Derry Area High School, where students prepared Christmas food baskets for those in need. Also, all branch youth members received Mickey D's gift cards in celebration of the holiday season. Lastly, correspondence was read from Mary Beth Eslary, widow of Eric, the Ligonier police officer killed in a tragic car accident while on duty. She thanked the branch for its fundraising efforts and donation to the family. We thank WPA for offering these fraternal programs in helping those less fortunate and hope for their continuance.
