Magazine cover sparks reader’s Magyar pride THE OCTOBER COVER was a pure delight ("Proud to be Magyar"). As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to send in the enclosed photo of my 7-month-old granddaughter Ivy wearing her Hungarian dress. In the background are photos of her great-grandmother (left), her great-great-grandparents born in Hungary (right), and her greatgreat-grandparents on my husband's side (center) also born in Hungary. Ivy looks as if she's contemplating her wonderful ancestry and how she will carry on her "Proud to be Magyar" heritage. Carol Orendy Palm Desert, CA WPA-sponsored turkey dinner helped make families feel at home ON BEHALF of the families of the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh, I would like to thank you for your delicious turkey dinner including all the wonderful sides. We are so grateful to our friends who continue to think of us to donate their time and effort. Your contribution helps us to maintain a "home away from home" for the families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment using our area hospitals. It is only with support from the community that we are able to continue to provide a home for all families regardless of their ability to pay. Again, from everyone at the Ronald McDonald House, I would like to thank you for your continued support to our families and mission. Sincerely, Becky Magnelli Family Service Director Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh WPA’s support of Folklife Festival enhanced visitors’ experience THIS SUMMER, we had the good fortune to be able to present the Hungarian Heritage Roots to Revival program at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. We are very much aware of the importance of the support and assistance we have received from the Hungarian American community and from your organization, without which this program could not have been the success we saw it to be. It was a unique experience, for all of us, and we are confident that all participants and contributors left the National Mall enriched by the feeling that the public was presented with a rich survey of Hungarian culture. In thinking back to those hectic two weeks, we are also thinking about and appreciate the support, financial and moral, we received from Hungarian Americans, which have ranged from networking to volunteer work and donations made by individuals and organizations. We are deeply grateful for your donation which enabled us to enhance the dance and music program at the festival. The three artists, who could join the festival team with your help, were wonderful additions and gave an invaluable experience to thousands of visitors. Let me express, as the Hungarian curator of the program, my personal gratitude for your support and dedication to serve the Hungarian community. Sincerely yours, Fiilemile Agnes Director Balassi Institute Hungarian Cultural Center, New York ab Delete End Page Dowi William Penn Life 0 January 2014 0 3
