Branching Out with Endre Csornán us at our 2014 events WE WELCOME the new year with enthusiasm as we continue to plan this year's fraternal events at the national and local levels. Our first national fraternal event will be our Annual Bowling Tournament which will be held Saturday, May 3, at the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington, Pa. Accommodations will be at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Meadow Lands. All branches are encouraged to organize a bowling team and register by simply filling out the form on page 16. Registration forms are due April 11, 2014. This is an excellent, non-competitive activity to bring people together and make new friends from your branch or even out of state. Remember, the casino is separate so that children can enjoy our bowling tournament, too. Come to Washington, Pa., and enjoy the bowling tournament and luncheon, then go shopping at more than 110 stores at the Tanger Outlets nearby. If you're not into shopping, you can return to the casino after the luncheon for slots, video poker, table games, poker room and harness racing. For a unique experience for the kids, you can take them to 84 Alpacas at Linwood Farm in the town of Eighty Four, Pa., and peruse the farm and store. Or, you can visit Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater or Kentuck Knob or the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. Another national fraternal event will be our 31st Annual Golf Tournament and Scholarship Days to be held July 18-19. The golf tournament will again take place at the Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway, Pa. Accommodations will be at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, which is also where the Friday night events will take place. After the tournament on Saturday, there will be a barbecue and awards ceremony in the Quicksilver Clubhouse. After the luncheon, you can relax at a local spa, shop at the Mall at Robinson, or go on a Just Ducky tour where the tour bus turns into a tour boat. We welcome golfers and families to attend this fun, fraternal event. Registration forms will be available in our February issue and be due June 24, 2014. We also have spaces open for our 2014 Hungarian Heritage Experience which will take place at Scenic View in Rockwood, Pa., Aug. 3 to 9. Reservations are also being accepted for our 2014 Tour to Hungary, though space is limited. The tour will be held from Sept. 13 to 26, and our full itinerary will be published in the February issue. Last but not least, we wish you and your family good health, happiness and prosperity in 2014! Boldog új évet kívánunk! Show your WPA pride! For a limited time only, you can purchase a Lands’ End® brand, 100% cotton, short-sleeved polo shirt featuring an embroidered William Penn Association logo. These are the same comfortable shirts worn by volunteers at our 13th Annual WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest.
