Let’s join hands against hunger

The holiday season will soon be behind us, and all the more reason to remember the spirit of giving even after all of the tinsel is gone.

More families are having difficulty putting food on their tables. Food banks have seen an increase in the number of families who need help and have suffered a reduction in donated items that they can distribute to those in need after the holidays. As a community service project, we are requesting that branches collect nonperishable items that can be donated to the food banks.

We would like each branch to host this project for their local community's food bank from January through February. Please report back the number of items or pounds of food donated, along with a photo of your efforts, by March 10,

2015, for inclusion in our April issue of William Penn Life.

Looking for a different way to wish your child a happy birthday? Would you like to wish your special someone a Happy Valentine’s Day? Or, would you like to share memories of a deceased loved one?

William Penn Life invites you to share your personal messages in the pages of our magazine. Make a donation to the WPFA Scholarship Foundation, and you can express greetings, wishes or heartfelt memories while allowing us to provide financial assistance to our young members pursuing a higher education.

The size of your message or greeting will be based on the amount of your donation as follows:

$ 100 = 74 page (approx. VL” x 5”)

$200 = 'h page (approx. 7'h" x 5”)

Please remember the deadline for each issue is the 10th day of the previous month. (For example, the deadline for the February issue is January 10.)

WPA donates Thanksgiving meals

PITTSBURGH — Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh were able to enjoy this Thanksgiving a little more thanks to the fraternal spirit of William Penn Association.

For the sixth year in a row, WPA donated two Thanksgiving meals to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Pittsburgh.

This donation is a natural fit for our Association as both WPA and Ronald McDonald House Charities are guided by core values of compassion and giving. RMHC offers services and programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. Perhaps the most wellknown aspects of its mission are the more than 300 Ronald McDonald Houses located around the world which provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving medical care at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and other area hospitals.
