Address of the National President Continuing our fraternal mission The Address of the National President to the General Convention by George S. Charles, Jr., FIC Dear fellow delegates, guests and friends, As your national president it is with great honor and humble appreciation that I welcome you to this 37th General Convention. We will be completing our 125th year as the largest Hungarian fraternal life insurance society in the United States. We give thanks to Almighty God for sustaining us through so many years. I have at all times, to the best of my ability, fulfilled the responsibility and trust placed in me to be the voice of our members to manage the affairs of our Association. You, as Convention delegates, have a very important task before you, and we are confident that your input and decisions will enable our Association to continue on the proper path to fraternal success. We thank you for your willingness to serve, and we ask for your continued support. William Penn Association flourishes because we strive to preach and practice fraternalism, brotherhood, and financial security. Our society has survived wars, recessions, depressions and financial panics, but WPA endures. To sustain this tradition, we must grow - in members, in products and services, in fraternal activities and benevolent acts of generosity toward others. Our foundation was built on caring, sharing, and performing acts of loving kindness, and it is right that we continue this fraternal mission as we build our future. Let us work together, pray together and serve together. May the future be rewarding for all of us. A sincere thank you to my fellow Officers, National Directors, and Home Office staff for all the rewarding experiences that we have shared together. To my dear wife, Dianne, and son, Steve, from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate and thank you both for helping me with your time, talents and energy — especially in September of 2008 when I needed you both the most — for the benefit of our Association. This Association is yours: promote it, support it, sing its praises to others. But, above all, love it as our parents and grandparents did during its first 125 years. Our future is in your hands; grab it and don't let go of it. May the Good Lord guide us in all our deliberations. The time has come, the time is now, and we stand ready. Thank you.
