William Penn Life, 2011 (46. évfolyam, 1-12. szám)
2011 / Különszám
Address of the Chair of the Board years 2007 to 201 I were marked by significant challenges. William Penn remained focused on maintaining a successful organization and providing quality insurance and annuities. We also provided many fraternal activities for you, our members. We continue to support the customs and traditions of our Hungarian forefathers. I am here to tell you that William Penn Association remains a strong and viable association. We have been licensed in 19 States and the District of Columbia. I am proud and pleased to announce that with the recent addition of North Carolina, we are licensed in 20 States and the District of Columbia. We may not be the biggest, but we are well on our way to being the best. During the past four years, our core business of providing quality products to our members was strong. We hired a new Sales Director, Jeff DeSantes, who I am so proud of. He has added new and viable agents in several states, which opened up opportunities for increased membership. Sales have increased 28 percent from 2007 to 2010. Our life annualized premium rose 32 percent from the prior four years. Permanent plans rose 38 percent over the same period. The last four years have seen an increase in total life insurance in force of six percent, from $267,884,058 in 2007 to $284,730,928 in 2010. We are on the right path. We have given members the option to go green with our publication, William Penn Life. You may read this online anytime you choose. We have new articles submitted by our younger members: “Tibor's Take” by Tibor Check Jr.; our puzzle page by Lizzy Cseh; “Moneywise” by Jeff DeSantes; and “Our Health Corner” by Debbie Wolfe, my daughter. Bill Vasvary (Chef Béla) will continue to write “The Hungarian Kitchen.” He has decided not to run at this Convention due to a heavy work schedule, but he said he will always be committed to lend a helping hand. Our new format continues to garner praise from every branch. Congratulations and thanks to Publications Editor John E. Lovász and National Vice President-Fraternal Endre Csornán on all your hard work. Over the last four years, we have continued to prudently manage our investment portfolio to maintain its high quality status. The Board annually reviews and approves the Association’s investment policy statement. All investments are reported to the Board and acknowledged. We maintain a healthy surplus with an exceptional solvency ratio. We are proud of our financial strength and high quality investment portfolio. We can weather the market ups and downs. William Penn Association has maintained an A.M. Best rating of B++. A.M. Best's ratings are recognized as the benchmark for assessing the financial strength of insurance related organizations. This is one more positive indicator of our stability. Hungarian Events William Penn Association has reinstituted trips to Hungary. I have been on three of them and they have been spectacular. We are working on going into Prague next year. Each trip has been different and wonderful. The Hungarian Heritage Experience continues to be a member favorite. This year, we actually sent out regrets because we were overfilled. This year many National Directors and guests attended the Experience's “Graduation Day." We are so very proud of our students, instructors, cooks, helpers and Endre Csornán for all their hard work. The WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest is in its I Ith year. Each year has been bigger than the last. We continue to find ways to make it different for you, our members. We also continue to support all things Hungarian, and we always will. We support the American Hungarian Foundation in New Jersey. Next year, 2012, the Foundation will recognize our National President, George S. Charles Jr., at the Foundation’s annual Carousel Ball. The Foundation ensures the continuation of our Hungarian customs and traditions. Over the last four years, we have also supported the Hungarian American Coalition and the American Hungarian Federation. They are all groups that help to insure our customs and traditions are carried on to future generations. We also support many faith based projects, such as the Calvin Synod and Hungarian Churches. Fraternal Successes William Penn has had many successes over the last four years, too many to mention. But, I will highlight a few. Penn Scenic View in Rockwood, Pa., continues to be an ongoing project. We are working very hard to improve revenues. It is truly a jewel in the mountains of Pennsylvania. We have a wonderful staff that keeps the facility in tip-top shape. William Penn Life 0 Special Convention Edition 0 December 2011 0 3
