Thank you to the National Officers and Board of Directors for funding the branch Christmas parties. Branch 28 once again had a very nice turn out for our party. The children were entertained by the Aut Mori Clowns (a volunteer group which raises funds for children with medical needs), a sing-along and, of course, Santa. The buffet table was available for all to share. After a group photo and special raffles, Santa visited with each child and gave each a gift bag and envelope. Split-the-pot winners were WPA sales representative Alan Szabó and Mary Foor. In conjunction with the party, we conducted our annual Holiday Scholarship Raffle. The lucky winners were: - 1st Prize, $100, Irene Gianfrancesco;- 2nd Prize, $75, Evelyn Horvath; - 3rd Prize, $50, Frank Tobias, and- 4th Prize, $25, Elaine Heilman. We congratulate the lucky winners and thank everyone for purchasing tickets and supporting this fund raiser. Other prizes were also given away with this raffle. The few give-away items left over from the party were donated to the Youngstown branch of Akron Children's Hospital for distribution to their patients. Following the party, a brief business meeting was held during which we elected branch officers for the year 2011. Those reelected to serve our branch were: Steve Novak, president; Frank Schauer, vice president; Kathy Novak, secretary-treasurer; and Maria Goda and Mary Schauer, auditors. Congratulations to Charlie Johns on his well-deserved awards. His true spirit of Fraternalism is a part of his everyday life. Many happy wishes are extended to everyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary this month. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are extended to everyone who may have experienced a recent loss. We especially extend sincere condolences to the family of Michael Kara. His smile and singing will always be remembered by those who knew him. Get well wishes to all those on the road to recovery.
