Branch News ABOVE: The children of Branch 28 gather around Santa during the branch's annual family Christmas party. RIGHT: Santa also visited a party hosted jointly by Branches 34, 71 and 352 where he listens to the children's Christmas wishes. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNeils By now, everyone should be getting back into the groove from the hectic holidays. We at Branch 34 hope that all WPA members had a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year. Please take a moment and pray for all our service men and women, especially those in harm's way. Our annual family Christmas party was held on Nov. 21 at the Sports Haven Bowl in Bridgeville, Pa. This year we were again joined by Branch 352 Coraopolis, Pa., and Branch 71 Duquesne, Pa. The weather cooperated, and 90 people attended this nice event. Thanks everyone for your help. We couldn't do it without you. The children and adults that bowled had a great time. Branch 34, Branch 352 and Branch 71 would like to thank the Board of Directors and the Home Office staff for helping to make the holiday season always enjoyable for our young members. Last, but certainly not least, Santa, thanks for joining us. At our Christmas party the officers and auditors were unanimously reelected by all present. Thank you for having faith in us and our service to Branch 34. A special thank you to Endre Csornán, national vice president fraternal, for swearing in the officers and auditors. Köszönöm szépen! We missed you Joe and Muncie. We would like to extend happy birthday wishes to all branch members celebrating their birthday this month. We hope that you all are happy and healthy. If you have any news you would like to share, please contact Andy McNelis at 412-421-6031. Rakoczy-Przywara The year-end holidays are now behind us, and I truly hope everyone had memorable ones. I spent the time from mid-November through December visiting my daughter Pam and her family in Michigan. Holidays are always a bit hectic, but a fun kind of hectic, especially where children are concerned, and my four grandchildren are no different. They attended the Branch 18 family Christmas party in Lincoln Park, Mich., and enjoyed the food, the magician who entertained everyone and the excitement when Santa arrived! Barbara House and her staff of volunteers are to be commended for an outstanding event. The Branch 59 Christmas party was a little disappointing. Two of our 20 juvenile members-Dominick and Isaac Bier—attended with their mother. I'm hoping the turnout for 2011 will be much better! As we begin a new year, I sincerely wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2011. I find myself thinking about the old St. Mary's Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, once located at the corner of 7th Street and Somerset Avenue. It was demolished to make room for a medical facility near the Windber Hospital (which is immediately next to the church). My grandfather and many other parishioners were instrumental in erecting the church in the early 1900's. Now that I am back in Windber, whenever I pass the location where MY church once stood, it is with a very heavy heart. Please pray with me for all those who are sick, and extend birthday and/or anniversary wishes to all those celebrating in January. As we begin the new year, I continue to pray for world peace and the safe return of the men and women serving our country in our military. Boldog Új Évet, everyone! Branch 88 Rural Valley, PA by Joe Chobody Members and guests of Branch 88 gathered on Sunday, Dec. 12, for our family Cliristmas party. A nice crowd was on hand despite forecasts of bad weather. Christmas carols played as the children lined up to tell Santa their Christmas wishes. Treat bags were distributed and refreshments were served. Special thanks to the Home Office for the generous financial help and the items for the treat bags. Thanks also to Kathy and Dennis Chobody, 18 0 January 2011 0 William Penn Life
