Branch News Kául. Congratulations, Leah. We're confident that you will have a very bright future. Branch 14 welcomes the following new members: Lukas Kalan, Lydia Luberger and Killian McCandlish. The next branch meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills. All adult branch members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your loved ones. Remember to thank a vet for all you have to be thankful for. At this writing, I am anxiously looking forward to our trip to Hungary. We leave in six days. I met all the Detroit travelers last Sunday. They were a super group. I know we are going to have a great time. I want to thank Dora McKinsey and Endre Csornán for working so hard to bring this trip to fruition. Look out, Hungary. Here we come! Happy 70th~yes, 70th!-anniversary to Olga and A1 Wansa. Thank you for all the lovely donations you brought to the last Branch 18 meeting. They all went to good use. Our charity project is Basil's Buddies. Basil's Buddies provides food and medical care to those who can not afford to keep their pets. If we can help this wonderful cause, there will be fewer animals in shelters and fewer being put to sleep. Please help us support this cause. We will take any donations, including cash. Get well wishes go out to all our members not feeling well, especially Loretta Adorján, Ann and Steve Nagy, A1 and Olga Wansa and Beata Császár. Hope you are all better soon. Remember: our Christmas party will be held Sunday, Nov. 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Hungarian Reformed Church, 9901 Allen Road, Allen Park, Mich. Everyone is invited. We only ask that you make reservations so that Santa can make sure he will have a gift for every child that attends. We also ask you to bring a donation for Basil's Buddies. See you there. Our next branch meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Reformed Church. What a super picnic. Huge thanks to Endre Csornán and his crew for all the hard work to again make another record-breaking Fraternal Fest. We give you a standing ovation. Thank you also to my Chinese auction crew. We also broke records as we raised almost $7,000, as compared to about $5,800 in 2009. Special thanks to Ronda Grotefend, Helen Molnár, Rose Markovits, Judy Chakey, Cassie Holmes and Tom House. It was a large job, and you all were marvelous. Thanks to all our wonderful prize donors. Do you suppose the Zac Brown Band will donate again next year? I really wanted that signed guitar. Special thanks to my guardian angel, Joey Csornán. Branch 18 members attending the WPA Picnic stayed at Seven Springs. We loved it so much that we plan on staying two nights next year. Start saving up now. Thank you, George Schvarckopf, for again sharing the wealth. Thanks, Mary Pedrys, for the guardian angel. Please remember in your prayers our deceased members and their families, especially Doris Mary Bushell and Edward Fejedelem. May they rest in peace. Congratulations to branch member John Blazo whose success as the place kicker for the New Boston Huron High School football team was featured in an article in the Monroe News. What makes John's story unique is that, although he's a senior, this in only his first year playing football. John has continued to play for the soccer team while becoming an integral part of the football squad. He was the top seller for the football team's fund raiser over the summer and this season has converted 17 of 20 PATs. The grandson of member Joan Wanat, John sure is a busy young man. We are very proud of him. See you very soon at our branch meeting and our Christmas party. Please call me if I can be of help. You can reach me at either 734-782-4667 or 313-418-5572. Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Can it be that the holidays are sneaking up on us already? Make sure your calendars are marked for Saturday, Dec. 4, for the annual WPA Branch 28 family Christmas party. Santa's making a special trip to spend the afternoon with us at Our Lady of Hungary Mindszenty Hall, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The party begins at 12:30 p.m. So, watch the mail for the children's invitation, but remember all adult WPA members are invited as well. Don't forget the holiday scholarship raffle will be held that day also. Then, following the party, we will hold the election of branch officers for 2011. Branch 28 will hold its 50-year member and member appreciation dinner at our November meeting. Honorees will be notified by mail of the details for this event. It will also be announced in our local church bulletins and newspaper. The Franciscan Friary on Belle Vista Avenue was the site Oct. 24 of commemorative services marking the 54th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. A nice group of people were in attendance and shared fellowship in the social hall after the services. The Hungarian churches of Youngstown will once again hold their Thanksgiving vesper services. The date and location will be announced in the churches' bulletins. Best wishes to all those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries this month. Get well wishes go to all those not feeling up to par these days, especially Frank Tobias, Betty Check, John Morey, Art Szőke, Irene Devlin and Julia Taylor. We extend our sincere condolences to all those who have recently lost a loved one. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Do you have any news to share or 22 ° November 2010 0 William Penn Life
