Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andrew W. McNelis Well, the summer is officially over after the Scenic View picnic is held. All I can say is: "What a picnic!" Every year it keeps growing. This year I can't even guess how many cars and buses we parked. It is gratifying to see more young adults and children attending every year. We had people attending from all parts of the country. Some out of town attendees from our branch were Joe and Mitzi Berei's daughter, son-in-law, grandson and family and a friend visiting from Germany. Also, "Chef" Jimmy Nemeth's son Jim and wife traveled from Florida. They all enjoyed the great food, music and fraternalism. It is great to see so many people enjoying themselves. The hard work that goes into the preparation makes it worthwhile and fulfilling when so many compliments are received about the picnic. What fraternalism! Many, many thanks to all the chefs, volunteers, the Home Office and last, but certainly not least (couldn't do it without you), Endré and our great branch members who volunteer year after year. Special thanks to all who helped me in the parking lot. Congratulations and love to our great-niece and branch member Gábriellé Kelley for a talented dance performance at the Art & Style Dance Studio in Pittsburgh this September. She and her partner Zach did a Samba and a tribute to Michael Jackson, a dance medley of Cha-Cha, Rumba and Jive. They also competed Sept. 25 at the Cleveland Dancesport Challenge held at the Rockside Woods Embassy Suites. They won first place in Silver and Gold levels doing the Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba Jive and Paso Doble. Gabby was also elected student council president of her middle school. Way to go Gabby! Happy and healthy birthday wishes to everyone celebrating their birthdays this month. Remember in your prayers our servicemen and women both here and overseas. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Christine Baldyga I would like to thank the Board of Directors, National Officers and Home Office staff for the Halloween lights sent to the WPA juvenile members. The party will begin at 2:00 p.m. It will be held at the American-Hungarian Club, 21 New Schley St., Garfield. There will be entertainment which is sure to be enjoyed by all. Santa Claus is expected to be at the party, and refreshments will be served. The election of branch officers for 2011 will be held before the party at 1:00 p.m. We hope all of our members will be able to join us. We wish everyone a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Branch 59 Windber, PA by Shirley A. Rakoczy-Przywara Welcome beautiful Fall (and the colors are becoming evident here in Pennsylvania), the playoffs leading to the World Series of baseball, and football season! A lot of people across the country will be glued to their TV's for many weekends to come watching their favorite teams in action. For me, that means ALL Pennsylvania teams! However, I always enjoy a well-played victory. Although I had the pleasure of going with the William Penn As-William Penn Life 0 November 2010 0 23
