Branch News Santa Claus welcomes young members to the family Christmas party hosted by Branches 34, 7 / and 352. those in harm's way. Our annual family Christmas party was held on Nov. 22 at the Sports Haven Bowl in Bridgeville, Pa. This year we were again joined by Branch 352 Coraopolis, Pa., and Branch 71 Duquesne, Pa. The weather cooperated, and we had a great turn out. Everyone that attended enjoyed the bowling, food, prizes and, especially, Santa Claus (including the adults)! Branch 34, Branch 352 and Branch 71 would like to thank the Board of Directors and the Home Office staff for helping to make the holiday season always enjoyable for our young members. A special thanks to Jim and Linda Deak. Great job as always! We would like to extend happy birthday wishes to all branch members celebrating their birthdays. We hope that you all are happy and healthy. If you have any news you would like to share, please contact Andy McNelis at 412-421-6031. For information about WPA life insurance and annuity policies, please contact Branch Coordinator Maria Bistey at 412-431-6035. Branch 88 Rural Valley, PA ^ by Sandra Mikrta In anticipation of the annual Christmas party to be held at the William Penn Lodge 88 in Rural Valley, the club's officers and their spouses spent the morning of Dec. 13 preparing food and sweet treats for all and filling goodie bags for the children that would be coming. It was great to see the many children who came for the party, especially those who wanted to see jolly old St. Nick. Just so there wasn't anything forgotten, some of the children even brought written Christmas wish lists to give to Santa as they sat on his knee. There were a few toddlers who were a bit too shy to get too close to the man in the red suit and white beard. All the children had fun opening their goodie bags filled with candy, fruit, games, song books and other treats. Everyone, even some of the adults, tried their skills with the super yo-yos that were included in the goodie bags. Members and their families enjoyed the refreshments provided and had a great afternoon taking some time from their busy schedules to socialize with old friends and watching the football game together. Much appreciation goes to the Home Office for supplies that helped make the Christmas party a complete success. We also thank Denny and Kathy Chobody, Joe Chobody and Sam and Sandy Mikita for all their help in preparing for the party. Special thanks to Ken Hilliard for the fine job he did as the man in the red suit and white beard. We extend to all our blessings for a wonderful 2010. Branch 89 Homestead, PA by Ruth D. Toth On Saturday, Dec. 5, we held our Christmas party at the Homeville Fire Hall in West Mifflin, Pa. The children, their parents and grandparents were welcomed to our annual affair. Entertainment was provided by magicians Glitter Dot and Dan who invited some of the children to assist them with their tricks. Following the performance, a buffet luncheon was served and everyone enjoyed the food. After lunch, a familiar voice could be heard saying "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Of course, it was Santa as he entered the hall. All the children visited Santa and collected their bags of goodies. The role of Santa was played by Branch 89 Vice President Timothy Toth. As they left the hall, the adults thanked the officers and members who were instrumental in arranging the wonderful affair. Our thanks go to the following for their help in making our party a success: Branch President John S. Toth, Branch Auditor Elaine Toth and Lisa Maskarinec, Kim Toth, John Recktosh, Vera Recktosh, Ruth Toth and Casey. We were told by the audience not to change anything for future parties. They like them the way they are! Articles & photos for the Februrary issue of the William Penn Life are due in our office by January 16 18 William Penn Life, January 2010
