Branch News ;U Are your beneficiaries up to date? That’s a question you may not have asked yourself very often, if ever. But, it’s one you should ask yourself at least once a year. We can’t stress enough the importance of regularly checking the beneficiaries listed on your life insurance certificates. It is the only way to ensure that the people you want to receive the benefits of your life insurance are the ones who will receive it. Think about the changes that have occurred in your life since you purchased your life insurance. Getting married, having children, losing a loved one, getting divorced, getting remarriedall these life changes affect your responsibilities. Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance certificates reflect such changes? If you think you need to update the beneficiaries listed on your certificates--either primary or secondary beneficiaries-contact your WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366. 24 0 May 2010 0 William Penn Life Motor Company--I returned to my family "roots." I was born April 9,1938, in House #43, Mine 30, and raised there by my proud Hungarian parents, John and Elizabeth (Betty) Rakoczy. They are both deceased and were laid to rest in St. Mary's Hungarian Cemetery in Windber. When I was a child, my father enrolled my siblings and me as members of the Rákóczi Aid Association in our town. Some years later, the Rákóczi merged with the Verhovay Aid Association and became the William Penn Association. In March of this year, Endre Csornán, national vice president-fraternal, spoke to me about resurrecting the Windber branch. I was ecstatic about it. A meeting was held March 22 at my residence during which we elected officers and auditors. In the early 1900's, my grandfather, Frank Rákóczi, was a member of the Verhovay in Windber. I take great pride in the realization that our Rakoczy name is once again associated with the William Penn Association. Over the years, I have attended many WPA events and activities, from bowling banquets to dinner dances to the annual WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest held here in the Somerset area at Scenic View. Many members of my extended family are also WPA members and participate in WPA events. Some of them are annuity holders and some, like me, have enrolled their grandchildren as members of this great and worthwhile association. I would encourage everyone to do the same for their beneficiaries. I look forward to serving Branch 59 Windber—and the WPA—to the best of my ability, and am thinking about scheduling future events for the membership at large. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to do so. I hope to see all of you at Scenic View on Saturday, Sept. 11, for this year's WPA Picnic. It is an event that truly lives up to its name: a "Great Fraternal Fest." I also encourage all local members to get involved and help revitalize our branch. Branch 132 South Bend, IN by the Officers of Branch 132 On March 6, the newly reorganized Branch 132 of the William Penn Association celebrated its first anniversary. The officers wish to thank all who made it a success. The picnic and children's Christmas party brought together new members and some who have been coming for years. At a meeting held March 9, 2010, our members voted to sponsor a team in the South Side Little League. Also at this meeting Michelle Horvath was installed as branch secretary. If you or someone in your family know of members who do not receive the William Penn Life, please advise them to call the WPA Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366 and have their names added to the mailing list. Put a note on your calendar for July 25; that's the day we will host our branch picnic this year. More details to come. We congratulate Ben May on finishing in first place at the Babcock Literary Awards at Purdue University. Ben is a member of Branch 132. He has received several scholarship grants through the WPFA Scholarship Foundation. Our condolences to the families of Louis Pinter and Robert Bralick. Also, we extend our condolences to the family of Sister Geraldine Demeter, F.D.C. Happy birthday to all celebrating their special day this month.
