Branch News Santa shares a moment with members of Branch 88 during their annual party. Wishing all members a very wonderful 2008. The first meeting of the new year will be in April. Until then, have a safe winter and keep warm. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Christine Baldyga The branch family Christmas party was held Dec. 2 at the American- Hungarian Club in Garfield, N.J. Mr. Meatball entertained the children, parents and grandparents. Many of the children participated in the magic tricks. Christmas carols were sung and Santa Claus arrived. Santa spoke with each of the children and gave them a monetary gift. The children really enjoyed the lighted tambourine provided by the Home Office. Refreshments were served and the afternoon was enjoyed by all. Thanks to the WPA Board of Directors and the Home Office for their assistance in making the party a success. Before the party, Branch 51 held its annual election of branch officers for 2008. Reelected were: Ernest J. Mozer Jr., president; Marian Rubin, treasurer; Christine Baldyga, secretary; and Maria Mozer, auditor. Congratulations to Nicholas Mozer. On Nov. 24,2007, Nick was honored for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. To earn scouting's highest award, a boy must serve as a leader in his troop, earn a total of 21 merit badges and plan and lead a significant community service project. He was joined by family, friends and fellow scouts to receive this honor. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. Branch 76 Philadelphia, PA by Bette Lewis Tokar February can be a dismal month, especially if you have a cold or the flu. However, it is better than January-there are only 28 days (unless it is leap year) and Presidents Day and Valentines Day make it more cheerful. Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Have you kept them? These resolutions tend to be things like "giving up smoking," "losing weight," "spending less money," "getting more exercise," or "becoming organized." They are all worthwhile goals. Maybe this year we will be able to keep them. "Getting organized" should include more than just getting rid of clutter. It should involve a review of your financial and legal affairs. Do you have a will? Is your life insurance adequate? Where are your important papers? We all hope and pray that we never face a disaster like a fire or flood. Unfortunately, we know that no one lives on earth forever, and we have to be sure that our loved ones will be taken care of. It does not seem to matter how young and healthy we are—accidents happen to the best of us. While you are working on your tax return, think about the rest of your financial affairs, and update them as necessary. We are always happy to see old friends and WPA members, especially at activities sponsored by the Philadelphia Hungarian Club. The general membership meeting and election of officers for 2008 was held on Jan. 20, followed by dinner. The Club usually has special celebrations for Valentines Day and Freedom Day. Look for information in the Club's newsletters. We are particularly grateful to Stephen Pokomy, branch vice president, and his brother and co-auditor, James Pokomy. They have been willing to help and support the WPA for many years. We want to wish all the best to Robert Szilagyi, Robert Millman and Otto and Myra Mezei and their family. We would like to send a special "hello" to all the members of the Philadelphia branch, especially to Shirley and Kady Demaria, Karen Davis, Laura and Armand DeVoe, the Fogarasi family, the Garcias, Rosalie Gogos, the Harta family, Aranka Mezei, Edith Nemeth and the Vidas. Please let us know about any special news: graduations, weddings, new additions to the family, or significant birthdays and anniversaries. We would like to share your news with our other members. If you have a birthday this month, we wish you good health and our best wishes for the year. Please address your news to Jack and Bette Tokár, 153 Pinehill Road, Feasterville, PA 19053-7809. If there is any way that we can help you with your questions about life insurance or annuities, please give us a call at 215- 357-4516. William Penn Life, February 2008 17
