PITTSBURGH - Young WPA mem­bers applying for grants through the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation will be required to write a 100-word essay on "What Fraternalism Means to Me" as part of the application process. Both students seeking grants for the first time, as well as those apply­ing for renewal grants, are required to submit the essay. "We see this as a way of getting young members to think about Fraternalism and how it is-and can continue to be--a positive influence on their lives," said National President George S. Charles Jr. "We hope it will inspire them to become even more active in the affairs of their branch and our Association." WPA members who have been accepted by, or are currently, attend­ing an accredited college, university or school of nursing as a full-time PITTSBURGH - The WPA will conduct its second annual Hungarian Heritage Experience Aug. 6 to 12 at the beautiful facilities of Penn Scenic View in Rockwood, Pa. The focus of the week will be on intense workshops offering instruc­tion in the Hungarian language. There will also be presentations on Hungarian culture and history, demonstrations of Hungarian cook­ing and other group activities. student may apply for a grant. To qualify for a grant, the applicant must be a life-benefit member of the William Penn Association for at least four years as of Jan. 1,2006. The applicant must also be a child or grandchild of a WPA life-benefit member in good standing for at least four years as of Jan. 1,2006. All applications for new and renewal grants must be signed by the applicant and postmarked no later than May 31,2006. Emails will not be accepted.
