Branch News of your fraternal family. Hope to see you in Cleveland. Please keep the families of our deceased members in your prayers. Pray for the souls of Robert Nehez, Eleanor Symbert, Ed Derbo, Mary Nemeth, Irene Pinckes, Elvira Kubovics and Margaret Ferko. May they rest in peace with the Lord. Rocky and Emma Borsa are anxiously awaiting the birth of daughter Lori Gross' son. Best wishes to all of you. You are truly a blessed family. We love you. Helen Molnár was the surprise guest of honor at her recent birthday party. She looks marvelous. She was surrounded by her many friends and family members. Daughter and friend Debbie hosted the event. May you have many more, Helen. In order to please many members, we have changed the day and time of our branch meetings to Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. This change will free up your weekends. We will continue to meet at the American Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park. Our next branch meeting will be held April 14. Hope to see you there. I am always available to help you with your WPA questions. Please call me at 313-383-4472 or 313-294-3997. Thank you to our very fine Home Office staff for helping me take care of our Branch 18 members while I was in Florida. Your Home Office employees are the best in the world, as I'm sure you already know. I love you guys. What would I do without you? Happy and Blessed Easter to each and every one of you. Have you seen "The Passion of the Christ" yet? I hear it is magnificent. I am trying to get enough strength to go. See you all very soon. Contact me if you have news to share. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak A Blessed Easter to everyone. In keeping with tradition, the Youngstown American Hungarian Federation hosted ceremonies commemorating the 1848 War of Independence. The Youngstown Hugarian Choir performed, and the famous "Nemzeti Dal" was recited. This year we were honored to have Endre Csornán, the WPA's membership activities manager, as the featured speaker. He addressed the gathering in both English and Hungarian. For your Hungarian listening pleasure, please tune into WKTL- 90.7FM, the Struthers High School radio station, on Saturdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. It is so nice to hear the third generation of the Check family carrying on the broadcasting tradition. Good luck to Tibor Check Jr. who, once again, is taking part in the state competition for the National Geographic Award. The winner of this event will compete in the national competition. Special get well wishes go out to Evelyn Horvath, Shelia Schauer, Steve Novak and the Rev. Msgr. Deszo Torok. Special "hello" to cousin Joe DeBosh and his family in Tennessee. It was so wonderful to hear from him recently. Also, a big "hello" to cousin Veronica Winkowski and all family members in the Pittsburgh area. For answers to your questions about life insurance and annuities, please call Alan Szabó at 330-482- 9994 or Kathy Novak at 330-746-7704. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis We at Branch 34 hope everyone had a Happy and safe Easter. What a winter this has been. I remember worse years, but with each year that goes by, winter seems to get longer and colder. Soon the sun will be shining, and we will be thinking of bowling, golf and the annual WPA picnic. Bowling this year is in Cleveland at the end of May; golf is in Harrisburg, Pa., in July, and, of course, the picnic is at Perm Scenic View on Sept. 11.1 am looking forward to seeing everyone at one or more of the events scheduled for this year. They are special times to visit with our old friends and make new ones. So keep your eyes on the William Penn Life for detailed information of time and dates for this year's activities. Please keep all our members that are under the weather in your thoughts and prayers, particularly Caroline Mayor, Joe Toth and Andy Fekete. We at the branch send our best wishes and hope you are all feeling better very soon. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Martha Bari llo Fel Támadt Krisztus-Valóba fel támadt. Christ is Truly risen. This is the greeting the Christian Hungarians use during the Easter holiday. Easter is a joyous holiday in the Church and for many other people because it is also a sign that spring is coming. The coming of spring will be especially welcome this year after a very cold winter. I have been thinking about my childhood in Europe. For Lent, we didn't have to worry about fast and abstinence. We had no meat during the week, only chicken soup on Sundays. We did not have to worry about giving up something: there were no snacks, cakes or candy. We looked forward to Easter Sunday and our town's Easter parade. The ladies prepared for days, Williu Penn Life, April 2004 15
