Branch 336 members Amy (standing) and Jodie Weber proudly display the trophies they won in recent competitions. St. Stephen's Church hall. Orders must be placed in advance by calling Michele LaFlame at 937-278-5970, Anne Kertesz at 937-275-6654 or Anne Marie Schmidt at 937-667-1211. The cost will be $1.50 per cabbage roll. Congratulations to the 2004 branch officers: Anne Kertesz, president; Steve LaFlame, vice president; Anne Marie Schmidt, secretary-treasurer; and Mary Ann Kabel and Mark Schmidt, auditors. Keep up the good work. Also, thanks to Michele LaFlame, our branch coordinator, for her hard work and keeping us all organized. The Christmas party was a success and well-attended, despite the cold weather. The chicken dinner was a tasty change. Goodie bags were given to the children, along with candy Branch News boxes with a gold coin surprise inside. The adults even managed to escape with a few prizes from the bingo game. Robin Kohr kept the children busy making crafts while the adults chatted. Of course, Santa Claus paid us a visit. Our bowling league will finish the season on March 28, with the bowling banquet to follow on April 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Marion's Pizza, 3443 North Dixie Dr., Dayton. We have had a really fun time and appreciate the hospitality shown us by Pla-Mor Lanes. Plans are being formulated for the bus trip to the Annual Bowling Tournament in Cleveland May 28 to 30. For specifics regarding the bus, teams and costs, please call Anne Marie Schmidt at 937-667-1211. We are contemplating sponsoring a project to sell wooden replicas of Holy Name Church and need feedback from those who might be interested in purchasing one. The estimated cost is $10. This may be a nice way to remember the Hungarian church where family members were baptized, married, buried or gathered to worship. Remember to contact Michele or Steve LaFlame at 937-278-5970 for your life insurance or annuity needs. Branch 296 Springdale, PA by Diane M. Torma All of us at Branch 296 were deeply saddened by the death on Dec. 15 of Branch President Ralph Schuller. Ralph was a fraternalist in every sense of the word. He served as president of Branch 296 for many years, a position he was very proud of, a position he carried out with honesty, integrity and devotion. He worked very hard to organize branch events, never complained and always generously volunteered. He took pleasure in helping others and making them smile. Ralph was a dedicated, active member of WPA on a national level as well. He volunteered at the annual picnic, always attended bowling and golf tournaments and served as a delegate at the General Convention in 2003. He thoroughly enjoyed these events and socializing with the membership, his friends. Ralph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha, five children, two brothers, a sister and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Our love and condolences are extended to Martha and the entire Schuller family. We will greatly miss Ralph and will strive to follow his example of fraternalism, hard work, commitment and living a good life. May he rest in peace. Congratulations to our New Year's raffle winners Barbara House and Ralph Manning. Many thanks to everyone who supported the raffle. We hold our monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Springdale at 7:30 p.m. The next scheduled meeting is on March 11, weather permitting. We encourage and welcome all branch members to attend. For your life insurance and annuity needs, call Noreen Fritz at 412- 821-1837. If you have branch news to share, call me at 724-339-2445. Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA by Charlie Johns Congratulations to our Branch 336 juvenile members. Our future is in good hands when the WPA has members like Amy and Jodie Weber. Amy recently won the spelling bee at her school and also took first place in the age 12 to 14 category at a karate competition in York, Pa. Meanwhile, Jodie was a member of the undefeated championship team in the Mason Dixon Soccer League 9-year-old group. Branch 336 is proud to see our youth excel. Branch 336 had a great children's Christmas party at the Verhovay Home Association #336 building. The winter weather did not keep Santa Claus from making his visit. Seventyseven of the 95 registered children made it to the party in spite of the weather. Those in attendance enjoyed Williu Pen Life, February 2004 17
