Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank Valentine's Day on Feb. 14 is traditionally a day of hearts and flowers, cupid and candy. Sometimes one special gift creates special memories that warm a person's heart. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. The WPA will celebrate its 118th anniversary on Founders Day, Feb. 21. Congratulations from Branch 800 to our National Officers, Board of Directors and Home Office staff. Gee, but time really goes by fast. Here it is time for the Lenten season soon to begin on Feb. 25, Ash Wednesday. It's a time for us all to look back and reflect and see how we can improve our own spiritual life so as to be ready for a joyful Easter. Branch 800 held its annual Christmas party with a well-filled room of adults and children. Of course, there was plenty of good, tasty food. We thank the Home Office for the monetary help and gifts which helped make the party a success. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus came to give the gifts out to the kids. The WPA inspirational calendars were given out and carol singing took place. Many thanks to all those who helped in any way to make it a happy evening. It put us all in the spirit of the season.
