WPA is here to serve the members and appreciated the interest the members show by referring others to join our Association. Dustin Ashbaugh, a magician, entertained us and kept all amazed at his disappearing tricks. He also made each child an elaborate balloon design. Following the entertainment everyone was treated to a delicious pizza buffet luncheon, which all enjoyed. Of course, the highlight of the party was the long-awaited appearance of Santa Claus. He greeted all and then had all of the children come up to receive a gift and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. In addition to the gift, each child was given a bag of goodies as they entered the hall. Branch 89 extends its thanks and appreciation to the officers and directors who made the Christmas party possible. We also wish to extend our best wishes to all for a very happy new year. The branch officers for 2004 are: Elmer W. Toth, president; Richard W. Toth, vice president; Ruth D. Toth, secretary-treasurer; and Elaine M. Toth and Lisa S. Toth, auditors. Our thanks to the following members who were instrumental in making the party such a huge success: Mike and Pat Kranack, Vera and John Recktosh; Helen Shumaker, Elaine Toth, Justin and Lisa Toth, Nancy Toth and Elmer and Ruth Toth. Branch 90 Allentown, PA Branch 98 Bethlehem, PA Branch 216 Northampton, PA by Nancy Kovach On Dec. 7 the annual Christmas party was held at McDonald's Restaurant in Emmaus, Pa. Branch 98 President Robert Kovach welcomed everyone and directed them to the party room. We had a good turnout of children and their parents. It was a beautiful cold winter day. Everyone was in Branch good spirits and ready to celebrate together. After lunch was served, gifts were distributed. Each child received a $5 bill, a gift and many presents provided by the Home Office. The children liked the flashlight, and the electronic red balls were the hit of the day. Parents received a gift certificate as a thank you for bringing their children. Carols were sung, and we all ate ice cream for dessert. Our special thanks goes to the Home Office and Board of Directors for their help and gifts. To all we send our best wishes for healthy happiness and peace in the new year. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA wwwmwwp ........ mu«... by Goldie J. Szarka Kívánunk mindenkinek boldog Valentine's Napot. (Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.) As of this writing, we are certainly experiencing some frigid weather. We hope it will warm up soon. I was checking my calendar and noticed that Ash Wednesday falls on Feb. 25, which means that spring and Easter are just around the corner. Happy birthday greetings are sent out to Bette Hoffman and Mike Benedict. May you have a wonderful day. Also, best wishes are extended to all celebrating either a birthday or anniversary in the month of February. Have a great one! To all our shut-ins: We wish good health and speedy recoveries. Received good news from Donald and Jacelyn Strom of East McKeesport. They had their first child, a precious little boy, on Sept. 18,2003. Duston weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces. Congratulations! Jacelyn told me that she knows Barbara House reads the Branch News and would be happy to know of their new addition. I understand from sources that Jacelyn is a top-notch bowler with the WPA. We wish all of you the best that life can bring. A special "hello" to Eleanor Urda Debski, formerly of Duquesne, Pa., now living in Bethel Park, Pa. Eleanor wrote to me in a Christmas card that she enjoys reading the William Penn Life. We're glad to receive comments from readers. If you have news of interest, please let us know. Sincere condolences are extended to Marguerite and Andrew McNelis. Marguerite's dear father, Andrew Vámos, passed away Dec. 30,2003. May he rest in eternal peace. The annual Valentine's Day dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 8:30 p.m. at the McKeesport Hungarian Social Club, 3004 Walnut St., McKeesport. Hope to see you there. Good wishes are being sent to Dr. Victor Molnár who is recuperating from by-pass surgery. At the present time, he is at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Residence, 145 Broadlawn Dr., Elizabeth Township, PA 15037. Dr. Molnár hosted the Hungarian radio program here in the tri-state area for many, many years. We thank him for all those years of dedication and endless hours of listening pleasure. It is with sad hearts we heard that the December program (hosted by his dear friend Jerry Jumba) was to be the last Hungarian program. Without a doubt, there will be a great void without the Hungarian radio program. For your life insurance needs, please call Alex Goydan at 412-751- 8250. Találkozunk márciusba. (We'll meet again in March.) Branch 249 Dayton, OH by Anne Marie Schmidt Hooray! Spring is on its way. We hope everyone is weathering the cold, snow and flu bugs this winter. The thought of green grass and spring flowers warms our souls. Branch 249 had a busy winter season, beginning with our successful fall cabbage roll sale in September. We are averaging over 1,000 cabbage rolls per event, which helps to defray the cost of the bus for the bowling tournament. The spring cabbage roll sale will be on March 25 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at 16 Williu Pen Life, February 2004
