Happy belated birthday to Bishop Wolfe, happy anniversary to Debbie and Glenn Wolfe, and happy anniversary to Tom House. We celebrated 37 years in September. I love you all very much. Thank you, Madeline Banjak and Emma Borsa, for investing with the WPA. We will take very good care of you. It was great to meet you, Madeline, and welcome to Michigan. As always, we thank Rocky and Emma for their wonderful donations. Congratulations to Rose Antal on her new child, Cricket. Cricket is furry, four-legged and loved very much. I know you're thrilled. We are working on your family Christmas party to be held Dec. 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Hungarian Reformed Church. Invites are in the mail. If you don't receive one, just call me. We need to know the number attending so we can plan food and gifts for children. If possible, please bring a dessert to share. Branch News Congratulations to Tom House in attaining the rank of third degree at the Robert H. Jones Council of the Knights of Columbus on Sept. 28.1 am very proud of you. Special greetings to Bob and Nancy Kovach. Congratulations to Chairman of the Board Steve Varga on his first article, "From the Board Room." It was super. Remember, all you snow birds, to let the WPA Home Office know your winter address. That is the only way the William Penn Life will be forwarded to you. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak With all the fun in the sun becoming wonderful memories, we are fast approaching the Christmas season. To celebrate the holiday, Branch 28 members are planning a fun-filled day of entertainment, food, gifts and (of course) a visit from Santa. This year, due to the growing number of people attending this event, we have chosen a new location for our Christmas party. Directions to the hall will be enclosed with the invitations to be mailed to members. In conjunction with the party, we will hold our scholarship raffle. A big thank you to National Director Michael Tomcsak for donating a beautiful Hungarian doll as one of the prizes. What a wonderful event the Third Annual WPA Picnic proved to be. In spite of the clouds and sprinkles, everyone there had a great time. With so many things to do, the day went by all too quickly. The group from Youngstown included people ranging in age from three years old to several in their 80's. We also had friends joining us from Florida and New Jersey. We all thoroughly enjoyed this trip, but Charlie Kopalbo of New Jersey especially enjoyed it. He was one of the lucky winners in the 50-30- 20 drawing. We hope everyone marks their calendars for Sept. 11,2004, the date of the next picnic. Best of luck to Amy Toth and Ashley Horvath as they enter universities in the Chicago area. Congratulations to all those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries this month, especially Lou and Margaret Sabo, celebrating 61 years together, and Frank and Peg Hoffer, marking 55 years of marriage. Wishing a blessed Thanksgiving to everyone. Insurance needs? Call Alan Szabó at 330-482-9994 or me at 330-746- 7704. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis Congratulations and thank you to Endre Csornán, a very loyal group of members too numerous to mention, the National Officers and the Home Office staff (better known as Endre's "volunteers") for preparing so many wonderful Hungarian dishes and organizing an afternoon of entertainment for the WPA 3rd Annual Picnic at Penn Scenic View. This year's picnic was quite an event to say the least. I'm not sure of the final count, but working the parking lot as I did I know that we far exceeded last year's total. Even with overcast skies, the members and friends of the WPA just kept coming. It was so heart warming to see so many families with young children at this year's event; there is a look on a kid's face at a picnic that is like no other. Also, I would like to thank Jesse and the Penn Scenic View staff for the fine work at preparing the grounds and their assistance at the picnic. 16 Williu Pen Life, November 2003
