Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Christine Baldyga On Sunday, Dec. 1, Branch 51 held its annual Christmas party and election of branch officers at the American Hungarian Citizens Club in Garfield, N.J. Those elected to serve our branch in 2003 were: Arthur Barillo, president; Frank Zimmermann, vice president; Richard Mozer, secretarytreasurer; and Joseph Baumgartner and Ernest J. Mozer Sr., auditors. Congratulations and best wishes for a successful year. Both the children and parents alike enjoyed "Colors the Clown" who entertained the children with face painting, magic tricks and games. Afterwards, Jamie Rubin, Katie Mozer and Marian Rubin led the group in singing Christmas carols from the songbooks provided by the Home Office. As everyone sang "Jingle Bells," Santa Claus (Fred Zimmermann) made his grand entrance, ringing his bell and shouting: "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" As the children took turns sitting on Santa's lap, they were asked if they were good children during the year and what they wanted for Christmas. Santa, with the help of Branch President Arthur Barillo, gave each child a gift. The children also received coloring books, crayons, toys, pencils and pens. The adults were given lovely 2003 WPA calendars and information on how to purchase life insurance policies for themselves and their families. After Santa departed to return to the North Pole, all were invited to stay for refreshments and to enjoy each other's company. We are thankful for all the help provided by the Home Office in making our Christmas party a success. We wish all members and their families a very happy and healthy new year. We offer our deepest sympathy to Art and Martha Barillo on the recent death of Martha's mother, Helen Lakatos, who was a longtime member of the branch. Due to recent surgery, Frank Zimmermann was unable to attend the Christmas party. We wish him a quick recovery. We want to welcome our three newest members to Branch 51. They are: Amanda, Bethann and Catherine Baldyga. The triplets were bom Oct. 6, 2002. They are the daughters of Tom and Christine Baldyga. Recently elected to serve as officers of Branch 51 for 2003 were (l-r) Richard A. Mozer, secretary-treasurer, Arthur Barillo, president; Ernest J. Mozer Sr., auditor; and Joseph Baumgartner, auditor.
