Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn B. Bodnar At our December meeting we reelected our current slate of branch officers to serve another term: the Rev. J. Bodnar, president; Ruth Vasvary, vice president; Evelyn Bodnar, secretarytreasurer; and Ernie Arvay, Bert Suldo and Melissa Miller, auditors. Our Christmas party followed our meeting at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church. The children had a wonderful time. "Petals" put on a delightful magic show and painted the children's faces and hands with various designs. We had a buffet dinner and enjoyed the fellowship of our friends. The children enjoyed the gifts the Home Office sent. Thank you. We were glad to see Ernie Arvay. He has been in and out of the hospital this year. Our next meeting will be held on Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church. We send our best wishes to all for a happy new year. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Wishing all our readers a wonderful, healthy, happy and prosperous 2003. Thank you to the Home Office for the assistance which allowed our branch to host another successful and enjoyable Christmas party. The group (our largest ever) was entertained by clowns from the Aut Mori Grotto (a volunteer group which buys medical supplies for children with serious health problems). Nicole and Anthony Valley did face and hand painting. Evie Byers, Maria Valley and Maria Schauer led the singing of carols which prompted the main man of the day-Santa Claus (John Tollas Jr.)-to arrive. After mingling with the group, Santa conducted the raffles. Each child received a ticket giving him or her a chance to win one of 22 prizes. An adult 50/50 raffle was held with Maria Valley the lucky winner. Eleven other items were awarded to the winning ticket holders. As usual, the buffet table offered a wide variety of selections. We thank all who helped at this event and all who donated side dishes and desserts. Santa distributed the wonderful gifts from the Home Office and the filled envelopes to all the children. Items left over were donated to Ted's Children's Hospital. In conjunction with this party our branch held the drawing for the scholarship foundation benefit raffle. We thank all who supported this fund raising effort. The lucky winners were:- John Morey (DVD player donated by the branch);- Rose Matasy (Hungarian doll donated by Mike Tomcsak);- Gerrie Menosky (holiday dishes donated by the Schauer family);- József Farkas (mini-sweeper donated by our branch coordinator);- Evelyn Horvath (holiday bear donated by Kathy Novak);- Frank Hoffer (can opener donated by the branch); and- Michael Toth (Hungarian candy WPA Branch 18 Presents a 3-Night Gambling/Mackinac Getaway June 22-25, 2003 PACKAGE INCLUDES: • Roundtrip deluxe motorcoach transportation. • A visit to Bay Mills Casino, with $5 in coin and free lunch buffet. • One night at the Kewadin Hotel, with $20 in coin, $ 10 in dining dollars, $ 10 in tokens and continental breakfast. • Roundtrip ferry tickets to Mackinac Island. • Grand lunch buffet at the Grand Hotel. • Two nights accommodations at the North Pointe Inn in Mackinac City with continental breakfast. • A barbecue on the beach at the North Pointe. • A visit to St. Ignace Kewadin Casino with $ 10 in coin. • Time for shopping in Frankenmuth. • A traditional family-style Chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn. • Baggage handling throughout the trip.
