So, please let me say "happy belated Mother's Day" to all our wonderful mothers. We have had a lot going on in our family the past couple of months, and we could not have weathered all these storms without the help of my wonderful mom and Gabby's grandma. We love you. Branch 18 did very well at the Annual Bowling Tournament. The Tweety Birds—Helen Molnár, Eileen Gonzales, Kay Momtsios, Emilia Blair and Amy Polakowski—came in first in the handicap division. Five Friends— Carol Truesdell, Betsy Griffith, Virginia Volter, Paula Bodnar and Barbara House-won the scratch division. The Five Friends men's team—Doug Truesdell, Michael Oberg, Jeff Holmes, Joe Volter and Tom House-missed first place by one pin. Eileen Gonzales threw a "lucky strike" to win $300, and Michael Oberg threw a strike and won $100. The Chinese Auction was a great success, bringing in $2,000 for the Scholarship Foundation. Many thanks to all who donated prizes and bought chances to win them. Congratulations to Mark Schmidt on winning the Suprise Auction. A great time was had by all who attended. Now. think "golf." Welcome home to all those who served in the war and were lucky enough to get home. Many thanks for all you've done. Welcome home, David Wolfe and Byron E. Bero. It was great to see you. Everyone is invited to join us for the Branch 18 summer picnic to be held Sunday, Aug. 3, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Gregory Park. There will be kolbász, a bacon fry, games, prizes, music and a whole lot more. Admission is free, but please bring a dessert to share. Congratulations to Debbie, Glenn and Jason Wolfe on your new home in Florida. I hope you will be very happy there. I know we are. Thanks, Emma and Rocky Borsa, for your donation. Thanks to all of you that have returned your Operation Christmas Child boxes. Thanks, Dr. John and Rosalie Pasko, for your donation. We used it for Join Hands Day. Without all you generous members, we couldn't do all we do. Get well wishes to Ernie Mozer and Tom House. We will remember you in our prayers. Thank you to Aladar Nemes and Tom House for the confidence you have in the WPA. Please remember our deceased members, especially Gizella Eyles, Michael Poliska and Alex Kato. May they rest in peace with our Lord. Congratulations to the Rev. Barnabas Kiss on his silver jubilee. You have done many wonderful things for Holy Cross Hungarian Parish. Happy June birthday to Betty Holguin, Leslie Vizi, Victor Bonora, Steve Somodi, Gizella Ressler, Christine Molnár, Chris Willim, Liz Masa, Ed Mayoros, Joe Baranyi, John 16 Williu Pen Lile, July 2003
