60th Annual Bowling Tournament Bowlers win extra cash with a ‘lucky PITTSBURGH - Once again, you didn't have to win the team, doubles or singles events to win a big cash prize at the WPA bowling tournament. All you had to do was be lucky enough to have your name drawn in our "Lucky Strike" contest, then roll a strike on your first ball after your name is called. Simple and easy, right? Well, maybe not so easy. First of all, as was already mentioned elsewhere, the lanes were pretty tough on Saturday, when the Lucky Strike contest was held. Secondly, it's even harder to roll a strike when upwards of 100 people are looking over your shoulder. Despite those long odds, three bowlers did roll strikes at the right time and walked away with some extra cash. Robert Taylor (far right photo) won $200 and Michael Oberg (center photo) took home $100 on the men's side. Several women had a chance, but only Eileen Gonzales managed to roll a strike when it really counted. She collected $300 for her lucky strike. In the photo on the left, Eileen receives her prize from Tournament Co-administrators Frank J. Radvany and Michael R. Kara.
