X Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward There are several activities being planned for a fun-filled summer for Branch 14 members. The branch will sponsor an evening at the Hanna Theatre in Cleveland to see "Late Nite Catechism", a fictitious, comedic catechism class-not for those who still have sweating nightmares about rulers and chalkboard erasers. If you're interested in spending an evening in "class" with an intimidating, sharp-tongued nun who loves to grill her students and doles out punishment freely, call Branch 14 President Caroline Lanzara at 216-581-8979. Branch 14 will also sponsor a Nautica Queen Dinner Cruise which promises to be a unique adventure in dining while cruising under historic bridges and experiencing the breath taking view of Downtown Cleveland's ever-changing skyline. These outings are being planned for July and August. The dates will be in the next issue of the William Penn Life, and you may call President Lanzara at 216-581-8979 for more information. To wind up the summer, Branch 14 will sponsor a bus trip to the annual WPA picnic on Sept. 13 at Penn Scenic View in Pennsylvania. The bus will leave from the First Hungarian Reformed Church in Walton Hills at 8:30 a.m. and return around 9:00 Branch News p.m. that evening. For more information and reservations, contact Violet Sarosi at 440-248-9012. The next regular Branch 14 meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church Bethlen Hall, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton, Hills, Ohio. All Branch 14 members are welcome to attend to help plan future activities. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Spring had sprung, and, boy, am I glad. This has been a really rough winter all over the U.S. Even Florida was not the best. Hope many of you are planning to attend the annual bowling tournament this year. I can't wait to see all of you. We have many surprises in store. Please plan on attending the banquet, too. We made it a buffet in order to make sure everyone is served quickly and able to take what they want to eat. Good luck to all our wonderful bowlers. Get well wishes to Mary Duzy, Emilia Blair, Betty and Rey Holguin, Lou Deregi and my right hand and pal Carol Truesdell. I also heard that the Rev. McKinsey and Alex Goydan have had a rough winter. We will remember you all in our prayers. Hope you get better real soon. You are very special people. Please remember in your prayers the families of our deceased members, especially Mary Bores, Margaret Gasparovich, Anna Leny, Frederick Toth and Goldie Vass. May they rest in peace with the Lord. Welcome new member Mary Kruse. Happy 51st anniversary to Duane and Mary Kruse. Hope you have many more. Happy May birthday to (first and foremost) my grandson Jason Wolfe. Love you. Happy birthday wishes also go out to Judith Papp, Joe Kastély, Rose Wickers, Kyle Tokarczyk, Dorothy Revak, Rose Bendy, Helen Jankowski, Brianna Rivera, Ruth Revak, Rose C. Antal, Elsie Kantor, Marie Pribanyec, Glenn Oberg, Helen Nagy, Amanda and Megan Antal, Mary Tury, Ernie Nagy, Ashley Haas, Emma Poliska, Elena Kraepel, Martha Mayoros, Eddie Beres, Kyle Molnár and Nicole Morsfield. Have a wonderful day. Congratulations, Bill Vasvary. Your column is wonderful. You are a handsome chef. Congratulations also to Michael Oberg on your successful year at college. I am so proud of you. Special wishes to Rocky and Emma Borsa. You are in our prayers. Branch 18 is sponsoring three Little League baseball teams and bought jerseys for them. We hope they each have a successful season. The WPA is again asking for your help with our annual Operation Christmas Child campaign (see story on Page 3). Get your shoe boxes ready and bring them to our next meeting. Make sure you include the required $5 per box donation for handling. Our next branch meeting will be held June 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Hungarian Reformed Church. Michael Poliska was awarded the Knight of the Month award from his Knights of Columbus council. They couldn't have made a better choice. We love you, Mike. Remember: the William Penn Association and me for all your life insurance or annuity needs. Call me at 313-383-4472 or 313-294-3997. Branch 18 is again taking part in Join Hands Day.
