Branch 8114 Clarion, PA_____ by Noreen Fritz Branch 8114 extends its deep and heartfelt sympathy to the families of Richard J. Gatesman and Anthony DeSantis. Both members recently went home to live with our Lord. Richard, 82, a longtime member, passed away in February. Anthony, 82, passed away in March in the Jefferson Manor Home. Bob Donahue reported that the branch recently bought and donated a set of much needed step risers for the choir at the Immaculate Conception Church. Now, everybody can see where those beautiful voices are coming from. The branch welcomes anyone wishing to attend our branch meetings. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Main Street, Clarion. Branch members celebrating birthdays in March are Stanley Bauer, Michael Dale, Albert Fiscus, Ann Hartle, Kasey Martin, Evelyn Seitz, Gene Seitz, branch officer Bob Donahue (thank you for all your work and emails to me), Erin Steiner, Seth Justice (grandson of George and Barbara Niederriter), Mary Jane Gatesman, Bradley Best (grandson of Florabell Best Niederriter), Gerri Ochs of Lucinda (a very dear person to me), Emily Steiner, Frank Shill, Samuel Schmader, Maria Pierrucci of Sligo, Judith McDevitt, Ian Rice, Annette Sunderland (now living in the Pittsburgh area) and Ruth Huefner. My email address is nbfritz@hotmail.com. HELEN ERDEKY PITTSBURGH - The WPA was saddened by the death of retired Home Office employee Helen Erdeky. Helen, a member of Branch 34 Pittsburgh, passed away March 11, 2002. Helen, 86, joined the Home Office staff of the former Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association in 1945. She served as the administrator of the A & H department, faithfully and efficiently fulfilling her duties until her retirement in 1979. She is survived by four sisters, Margaret Simpson, Gabriella Barnes, Mary M. Allen and Ethel A. Jones; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kalman and Paula Erdeky; and brothers Kalman and Eugene. A blessing service was held March 14 at the Charles W. Trenz funeral home in Penn Hills, Pa.
