did in planning and hosting the WPA picnic at Penn Scenic View. All those attending surely had a wonderful day, enjoying plenty of food, bever­ages and entertainment. Seeing so many friends from all over was an added bonus. Members of our group traveling to this event were quite lucky during the Chinese auction. A big "welcome to the Youngstown area" goes out to Joseph Farkacs from Hungary. Joseph is attending Young­stown State University and residing with relatives Frank and Mary Schauer. Speaking of Frank and Mary, it's so nice to see they have safely returned home after a month-long adventure in Hungary to visit family and friends. They have many stories to share. We will be holding a special branch gathering in November to honor our 50-year members. Many happy returns to those celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Ernest J. Mozer, Sr. The Second Annual WPA Picnic was held Sept. 14 at Penn Scenic View. We hope everyone had an enjoyable time. The election of branch officers for 2003 and our annual Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at the American Hungarian Club, 21 New Schley St., Garfield, N.J. The election will be held at 1:00 p.m., and the party will start at 2:00 p.m. sharp. We ask all juvenile members to please remem­ber to bring their parents and grand­parents with them to the party. Branch 129 Columbus, OH by Árpád Sibrik NEWS FLASH: Branch 129 members are being asked to mark their calen­dars for Saturday, Dec. 14, for that will be the day on which our branch will host its family Christmas party. Members are also asked to note that this year's party will be held at a new location: the VFW Post 3424 Hall located at 3176 S. High St., Columbus. The arrangements for food, pastries and children's gifts from Santa will remain as usual, but there will be a cash bar this year. Everyone will receive a letter from the branch secretary soon. We hope everyone will join us and have a good time. Congratulations to Kanda Vecchiarelli and Erin Jay Benner on their recent wedding. Irene Voss is presently experienc­ing some health problems. We send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Branch 132 South Bend, IN by Alex Horvath On a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon, Branch 132 held its annual branch picnic Aug. 11 at Potawatomi Park. A good time was had by all. Thanks to Bob Horvath who grilled the sausage. The menu also included chicken and hot dogs. Each person attending was asked to bring a side dish. There was plenty to eat, and cold drinks were furnished by the branch. Congratulations to all who won door prizes: Don Czajkowski, Irene Bokon Ziolkowski, Helen DeMeyer, Louise Papp, Martha Egyház, Florence Wisnesk, Michelle Horvath, Michael Horvath, Marilyn Horvath and Bob Horvath. We were happy to welcome Louise Papp, an out-of-town member visiting from Dacula, Ga. Our thanks to picnic committee members Helen Pécsi (chairwoman), Alex J. Horvath, Frank J. Wukovits, Robert Horvath and Ann Horvath. We also send special thanks to Ann Horvath and Helen Pécsi for taking time to shop for items to fill 12 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child and then wrapping those boxes. Branch 296 Springdale, PA by Diane M. Torma Our annual bacon roast on Sept. 8 was a great success—the weather was pleasant, the food delicious and the people were most enjoyable.
