Branch 14 ^ V Cleveland, OH y by Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 held a special meeting March 9 at the Brecksville Community Center to elect officers. The new president of Branch 14 is Caroline Lanzara. She is a secretary in the guidance department at Maple Heights High School. She also is an active member of the First Hungarian Reformed Church, where she serves as a youth advisor, Sunday school teacher and Bethlen Hall coordinator. Newly-elected vice president, Emma Oris, has been involved with the marketing and cultural aspects of fraternal life insurance for more than 30 years, initially with the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. She is also a presbyter and choir member at the West Side Hungarian Reformed Church. Branch 14's new secretary-treasurer is Stan Dorulla, controller of Sedlak Furniture Store. Stan was the salutatorian of St. Ignatius High School and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics from John Carroll University. He is a eucharistic minister and usher at St. Monica's Church. Irene Evans, Richard Sarosi and Lou Horvath were elected as auditors. Irene has served as an auditor for our branch for several years and will certainly be an asset with her wealth of experience. She is a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Richard is the assistant administrator, Fire Headquarters, City of Cleveland. He holds a bachelor's degree in urban studies from Cleveland State University and a master's degree from St. Louis University, also in urban studies. He is a presbyter at the First Hungarian Reformed Church. Lou is the owner of Master Wood Products in Walton Hills, Ohio. He is also an active member of the First Hungarian Reformed Church. Congratulations to all the new officers. Our branch recently donated $500 to the Ethnic Hungarian Concordia Choir from Slovakia-Felvidek. They are a group of seminary students, ministers, organists and teachers currently touring the U.S. to raise money for schools which were returned to the Hungarian church after the fall of communism. The WPA bowling tournament will be held in Cleveland over the Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 28. Branch 14 members will be needed to volunteer as we are the official host branch for the tournament. All Branch 14 members are welcome to attend our next branch meeting on Wednesday, April 12, at the Grand Bay Clubhouse, 7001 Cross Creek Trail, Brecksville, at 7:30 p.m. Help us plan the best bowling tournament ever. Happy April birthday to my two good friends, Rose Antal and Rey Holguin. You are special people. Happy birthday also to my buddy Steve Charles. And happy anniversary to his great mom and dad, Pete and Dianne Charles. May you all have many more. Please remember in your prayers our deceased members and their families, especially the family of Frank Amosky Jr. and the wife of member Frank Baska. May they rest in peace. We are busily preparing for our annual bowling tournament. The best part is being together once again. I sure hope you are planning to attend. I can't wait to see everyone. Operation Christmas Child is underway once again. Thanks to Dianne Charles for her devotion to this worthy cause. Our Charity-of-the-Month is Christnet, a Downriver warming center for the homeless.
