On the health scene, I am 90 percent back to normal after two surgeries. I hope to be able to start playing golf and take part in the WPA golf tournament in Columbus on July 14. My wife Priscilla (Piri) is recover­ing nicely after complete hip replace­ment surgery on Jan. 24. Margie Boso is doing well, too, after her knee replacement surgery. She plans to have the other knee done as soon as she finds time for it. Steve Szabados is getting better and is now at home. István Nyeste will have surgery in the spring of 2001. John Toth is back to work on light duty after a bacterial inflection in his gland. Mike Toth has been in and out of the hospital several times, and we hope he will soon be on the mend. Ferenc Relle is getting better after a bacterial infection but is still under a doctor's care. Mary Bondy is getting treatment for a growth on her lung. Mary Komives is back from her vacation in Florida, all rested and feeling good. The branch is sending a ladies team to the WPA bowling tournament in Cleveland. Several interested friends will be there to cheer them on. The next branch meeting will be held on April 12, same time and place as usual. Please plan to attend. Julia Terese Mesler arrived Feb. 16 weighing? pounds, 11 ounces. Mary Ann was a member of Branch 590 and the Plant City Liberty Club. She is survived by her husband, John; a daughter, Mary Ann Sound of South Bend, Ind.; and a son, John Jr. of Detroit. We will remember her in our prayers. Get well wishes to Joe Mekler who is recuperating at home in Dunellon, Fla., after being in the hospital for two months. His wife Mary makes the best csöröge you ever tasted. Congratulations to Jodi Dues for being named to the dean's list at the University of South Florida. She is a nursing student. Congratulations to David Mauerman on winning the Scholastic Art and Writing Award 2000, the "Golden Key Award," at the McDonough Museum in Youngs­town, Ohio. This award qualifies him to compete in the national art compe­tition in New York. The title of his painting is "Waiting for the Band." He is a senior at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, where he is a member of the National Honor Society. Two years ago he toured Europe, visiting museums in Spain, Paris, Italy and Germany. Branch 590 is proud of Jodi and David, and I am doubly proud as they are both my grandchildren. Family and friends of Bill and Ethel Becze of Englewood, Fla., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniver­sary April 3 at the Petőfi Club in Venice, Fla. Best wishes to you both. Brooke attend the Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. I really enjoyed "Csárdás" when it was performed in Lakeland. The costumes were very colorful and the dancers displayed so much energy.
