Branch 8 Johnstown, PA by Mary Groshans Branch 8 hopes all its members had a joyous holiday season. The annual election of officers and family Christmas party were held Dec. 5 at the United Church of Christ in Johnstown. Branch President Sándor Yuhas opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. The members elected the following officers for the year 2000: Mr. Yuhas, president; Mary Groshans, vice president; Dorothy Kedves, secretary; David S. Kazak, treasurer; and Viola Yuhas and Vera Petruska, auditors. The family Christmas party began with a delicious buffet, pastries and refreshments. Santa arrived to hear all the children's Christmas wishes and distribute gifts to the children. Everyone attending received a WP A goodie bag with a wide assortment of gifts. A big thank you to all those who helped make our annual Christmas party a success, especially the Home Office for the financial aid and materials. For all your life insurance needs, please call Mr. Yuhas at (814) 535- 5593. Branch 16 Perth Amboy, NJ by Michaelene Mirkovich Branch 16 held its annual family Christmas party Dec. 4 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Perth Amboy. Branch President George F. Mirkovich welcomed everyone and extended greetings from the branch, officers and the Association. After a dinner of fried chicken and salads, our program began with Johnny the Clown who kept both young and old guessing as to how he did his many magic tricks. His balloon animals were a special delight for the children, who each received a balloon animal to take home. As always, however, the highlight of the party was the entrance of Santa Claus. Prior to Santa's arrival, Steve Johnny the Clown and his rabbit entertain the children attending the family Christmas party hosted this past December by Branch 16. Mészáros led everyone in singing traditional Christmas carols. At the sound of Santa's bells all began to sing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town." The children were thrilled and quickly got into a line to tell Santa their secret wishes for presents under the tree. The children each received a gift from Santa and a bag of goodies. Thanks to all who helped with the preparations, including Mr. Mészáros, Mr. Mirkovich, Anne Hrabar, Michaelene Mirkovich, Michael and Annette David, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hrabar and Melissa Mirkovich. Before the party we held our annual election of officers. Elected were: Mr. Mirkovich, president; Mr. David, vice president; Mr. Mészáros, secretary-treasurer; and Mrs. David and Melissa Mirkovich, auditors.
