We are also planning a card party for Nov. 16. As you can see, you have a true working group of officers, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. We are also working on the ladies auxiliary. Our charity for the month is the Downriver Cancer Society. Please try to join us for our monthly membership meetings. The next two will be held Feb. 4 and March 10. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and are held at the Hungarian American Cultural Center on Goddard Road in Taylor. We are more than halfway through winter; think spring. A big thank you to Branch Vice President Frank Schauer, who also serves as branch photographer, for gathering as many of the children as possible for the group picture at the Christmas party (see above). The February branch meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Perkins Restaurant on Boardman- Poland Road at 7:00 p.m. Hope the weather cooperates and allows many members to attend. Congratulations to Rick Naples, son-in-law of National Director Michael Tomcsak, on becoming a vice president for Roche Diagnostics Corporation of Indianapolis. Also, congratulations to Christine Toth on being one of 37 Thiel College students named in the 2000 edition of "Who's Who among Students in America's Universities and Colleges." She was also named MVP of Thiel's volleyball team. A big thank you to all who helped make our scholarship raffle a success, allowing us to contribute to the WPA scholarship foundation. It's reassuring to know the youth of our organization are interested in the Association's origin and Hungarian background. Rose Matasy received a phone call from her grandchildren in Connecticut. They were studying about Pennsylvania and William Penn and asked how our Hungarian insurance society received its name. Our By-Laws provided all the correct answers. Mother Nature was extra-cooperative on Jan. 1 to help Miklós Schauer and his bride Nicholle celebrate their wed'bng >1 an unsual way. The outuoor, Renaissance-theme ceremony was a wonderful event. Beautiful period outfits were worn by the bridal party and family members. Get well wishes go out to Joe Vizi, Pauline Vizi, Eugene Sakasits, Leo Hrescka and all the victims of the nasty flu bug.
