Congratulations and thank you. We are very proud of Helen Molnár of Taylor, Mich. She received the Women of Achievement Award Nov. 3. Helen has been a volunteer for 45 years. She also introduced the Taylor Substance Abuse Task Force and BABES, both designed to teach children about substance abuse. Congratulations, Helen. Have a great new year and plan on meeting with us sometime. You are most welcome. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH By Kathy Novak It almost seems impossible that the first year of the new century is about to come to a close with the upcoming holidays. With all the busy schedules during this season, let's hope everyone marked Dec. 9 as a day to join the Christmas party of Branch 28. Santa's visit to Branch 28 will be featured in our January article. With the help of the Home Office, our branch once again participated in the Holiday Basket program. The members decided to add to the fund and split our donations to several charitable organizations and a family with medical problems. The annual Thanksgiving vesper services were held at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Nov. 21. A joint choir from local Hungarian churches was featured during the services. Canned goods were collected to be donated to those in need. The Branch 28 memorial Mass was held on Sunday, Nov. 26, at the monastery. Many happy returns to those celebrating birthdays and/ or anniversaries at this joyous time. Let's keep special thoughts in mind for those having recently lost a loved one. Any of your life insurance needs or questions can be handled by calling Alan Szabó at (330) 482-9994. Wishing everyone joy, peace and love during this blessed, heartwarming season. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA By Andy McNelis Here's hoping everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Now, it's time we turn our attention to the Christmas and New Year holidays. It's hard to believe that it has been almost a year since the Y2K worries. Where has the year gone? Just a reminder: The invitations for the children's Christmas party have been sent. If you did not receive your invitation, please contact me at the number below. The party will be held at Jameson's Restaurant on Bates Street, Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1:00 p.m. The branch will hold it's annual meeting and election of officers at 12:30 p.m. at Jameson's Restaurant before the children's party. All adult life-benefit members are encouraged to attend. Get well wishes go out to John L. Lovász, Anna Liptak and her daughter Marianne Basher. All three were recently hospitalized. Anna, it's good to see you up and around again. (See, prayers do work.) Please remember in your prayers, especially during the holiday season, the families of our deceased members. May God bless them and give them strength at this time of year. We were saddened to hear of the recent death of Anna Liptak's son, Stephen Michael Liptak Jr. Stephen, 65, was a retired White House security officer and lived in Arnold, Md. He was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School. He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Please keep Anna and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Birthday wishes go out to Zita Kara, her daughter Mary Ann, Maria Bistey, John L. Lovász, Miriam Hager and Terri Varas. We hope this year brings you health and happiness. Last, but not least, a very special birthday wish is sent out to Theresa Untener, who will be turning 100 years old in December. May God bless you and grant you many more.
