please call Mike Tomcsak at (863) 858-8071. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank The branch's summer picnic at Highland Park was most enjoyable for everyone. It's nice to know that the members, their families and friends look forward to attending this summer outing each year. Eighteen kids attended this year, and the good Lord blessed us with excellent weather. There was also good food and door prizes for all. The Rev. John Neugebaurer offered the meal blessing. Also attending was the Rev. Kenneth Greiner and Deacon John Tiernan. The committee did a very good job making sure all things went smoothly at the picnic. So as not to miss anyone who helped in any way, I will just say thank you all very much for the wonderful job. Autumn will arrive Friday, Sept. 22. Leaves will be turning colors all across the state soon. With the nip of autumn in the air and Mother Nature dressing up in her finest colors, there is no better time to go out and tour the beautiful scenery. There is nothing so spectacular as the glorious colors of the fall foliage in Pennsylvania. The hills are blanketed with reds, yellows, golds and browns. Did you know that a tree's autumn colors come from the sugar it creates? The more sugar a tree has in its leaves, the brighter the color cF Its leaves in the fall. I hope the leaves are just loaded with sugar this year. For all your life insurance or annuity needs, please call Bob Jones at (814) 942-2661. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA By Noreen Fritz Sizzling steaks and a good time- Branch 8114's steak fry was a big success! Many turned out to meet their neighbors and cook their dinner together. Dorothy Bauer of Tionesta said it was great to get together and see people that she hadn't seen in years. There was a larger turnout than usual. A BIG thank you to the officers of Branch 8114 for making it special. Happy belated August birthday to Robert W. We had a wonderful picnic, featuring favors, door prizes and games. The food was great, too! Thank you one and all. During the meeting, we signed cards for members celebrating birthdays and for those who are sick. We will participate in "All Saints Alive", part of the Catholic church's year 2000 millennium celebration. We will give out prayers cards featuring St. George. Mary Lou Schutz, Betty and Boots Emmert and Catherine Glass will represent our branch in this effort. We lost another dear friend, fellow WPA member Norbert Frey. We will remember him in our prayers. We pray God will bless him and his family. 20 William I'm Life, September 2000
